Full disclosure: this is nothing new. But, I was just perusing through my Timehop for today and there happened to be a lot of funny Nebraska material. Tweets and links. Athlon always seems to undervalue the Gophers, and they clearly have been overestimating Nebraska especially in the Frost era.

One link was to an Athlon article written about Nebraska’s upcoming 2019 schedule, written that April, and full of sparkly commentary how the Huskers were about to ascend to the top of the B1G West:

The whole thing is hilarious to read now, not just because of knowing how 2019 went, but 2020 and this season as well. Really hard to take these off season writings seriously but all these publications know it, so they write crap like this and the clicks are sure to follow.

If you don’t want to take the time to read the whole thing, just behold the prediction for the 2019 Gopher/Husker game:

Say what you will about Nebraska, I'll be a huge fan of theirs for two of the next four weeks.
I agree. Go Huskers... for the time being. That said, they have to have the most delusional fan base in college football. Their fans, their media... everyone. I sometimes check out the Husker chat board for a chuckle. After the Purdue loss, there were many comments about how "we can't lose to inferior programs like this." Well... you are 1-3 against Purdue in the last 4 contests. There is also a thread about who will coach them if they part ways with Frost (which they will eventually). The names include Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer and Lane Kiffin. Not a chance.

Yep, they can do nothing but help us in the final 2 weeks if they can somehow get their crap together and beat Iowa and/or Wisconsin. Tough to bank on it happening the way their season has gone but hey, you never know. They do have talent and some playmakers....maybe they can put it all together for a couple games at the end of the season.

Reading the Husker board is a blast. A person can waste hours.

Is it possible for the team to win and Frost lose? I guess when they fire him, but I mean those 2 games.

What the hell makes any particular Nebraska fan an expert of U Minnesota football anyway? They are not the end-all-be-all-experts on college football. They probably said the same thing about Kansas State back in the day. Guess what? KSU is still pretty good after all these years and Nebraska would have a tough time with them today. And odds are KSU will get to a bowl game this year and Nebraska has maybe a 10% chance and that's being very generous. And furthermore, KSU has no past history of significant success NONE before Snyder. In fact, I looked it up: KSU went to a total of ONE bowl game ever before Snyder arrived, a trip to the Independence Bowl in 1982 when they went 6-5-1.

Also, I remember years ago - yes I'm old - a radio interview with Tom Osborne. He was asked if Glen Mason was going to be successful at Minnesota since had just left the job a Kansas. He arrogantly said that he didn't know because he's never had to deal with a rebuilding job like that. Well Tommy Boy, your precious Nebraska program needs some rebuilding now.

I've read the Husker boards and they seem like normal people. When rubes bring up Campbell and Urban Meyer, those talks get immediately laughed. Their expectations seem to be pretty reasonable (contend for West most years). For Nebraska, I don't think that's unreasonable.

Different sports site I go to Nebraska fans there are mostly wanting what many Gophers fans here want.

Consistent bowls with b1gw title runs

Good stuff

You’ve got to be joking. The husker boards are unhinged.

They are arguing whether Fleck is good or not.
One poster is saying we're no better than we were before Fleck.
The other poster is using facts to combat that argument.

To be fair, I remember Jim Harbaugh being brought up here after Brewster was fired in 2010, and I don’t think he was the only pie in the sky name that was mentioned, but I’m having a hard time remembering the others. I think Gary Patterson and Chris Petersen were tossed around as well. I can’t blame people too much for entertaining wild “wouldn’t it be cool if…” scenarios for fun. Unless they’re actually thinking they should be able to get Urban Meyer and will be disappointed with anything less.

The Gophers' win put the Huskers under .500 in conference games since joining the Big Ten. They started 0-1 in 2011 and hadn't been there since.

Most neb fans know the 90s are over and just want a good team.
