Nebraska game already a sellout according to Doogie

Something is happening and I can't put my finger on it. I've had season tickets for years and dropped them this year as I was rarely, if ever, able to sell them if I couldn't go. Now this year I have had people asking to buy my tickets on a number of occasions and I only picked up tickets to the games I could go to. Word is getting out that the U is a fun place to be on Gopher Football Saturdays, I guess. The restructured ticket prices must be working for the U of M that many are complaining about. It will be interesting to see what next year brings when the schedule is not as favorable.

I can't make it to the Nebraska game so I was forced to sell my tickets to NOT a nebraska fan. Paid twice the face for them and they're Zone 2 tickets. Took me about 2 hours to sell.
 

It does look like there are a bunch of tickets left for the Michigan game however.

If we can pull off the win against MSU this weekend I fully expect that a large contingency of Michigan fans will make the trip to TCF. Michigan has always traveled pretty well, but this year has been crazy. The game in Maryland was practically another home game for the Wolverines.

Man I hope both Minnesota and Michigan win this weekend. It will be a crazy atmosphere at TCF if that is the case. I, for one, will be there regardless. I've already bought my tickets!

How is this large contingency of Michigan fans going to get tickets. It sounds like there are not that many left from what I have heard.

I'm guessing there will be several thousand SRO tickets. There's a fair amount of room around the top of the stadium on the walkway. Michigan has always traveled well; I'm thinking that if both of us win this weekend, the price of all available tickets will nearly double.

There are a few upper deck sections that still have plenty of tickets available. I'd guess there is about 4-5k tickets still available.

I'm interested in how you plan to upset a team that you're favored to beat? FYI, I fully expect a convincing Wolverine victory. We'll spoil your party on Halloween :)

Spoke to someone in the know today and he said there's 2700 tickets left. All signs point to a sellout if the Gophers and/or Michigan win this weekend.

Michigan might get 5-6,000 to TCF (a 52,000 seat stadium). They aren't going to have more fans than Wisconsin or Iowa typically do (5-10,000 tops)--those schools have hordes of alumni in the twin cities and a lot of them buy season tickets just for the Wiscy/Iowa game.

I will say, it sucks that Harbaugh got them on track so quickly. I had this game pencilled in as a sure win at the beginning of the season.

It is weird that there have been lots of seats available for many Big Ten games and the only two times I have seen huge numbers of visiting fans was the last two Nebraska visits (and the NDSU game). The Ohio State fans had a decent contingent last year as well.

The Iowa and Wisconsin fans have been especially absent since TCF opened. I think partially because Iowa has been not so great, and there was an impression for some time that there were very few tickets left to buy.

Even in the Metrodome, despite the huge numbers of Iowa and Wisc. fans, no one ever had half the crowd ever, at least at the beginning of the game. Of course the Iowa and Wisconsin fans, per capita, always drank way more and made much more noise than the average Metrodome era Gopher fan for certain, large student section excepted.

Indeed. I think we've seen a slow drop off of visiting fans. I'm sure performance for Iowa, Wisc, and Nebraska drops were the reason, along with increasing local support.

Nebraska REALLY showed up for their fist game at TCF, after that in the Bo era it dropped off...... not sure how many will show for this week's game, although they may have bought tickets already hoping the new coach would do better....
