Nebraska cracks the Top 25

Polls really have some oddities.

Washington is 5-1 and destroyed the common opponent that they had with Ole Miss, Washington State. Outside of week 1 Texas, Washington played tOSU the closest. Washington is unranked and Ole Miss is #5.

Two loss ND is #13. They lost to #2 Miami and #4 Texas A&M.
Two loss Illinois is Unranked. Their losses are to #1 tOSU and #3 Indiana.
One loss USC is #21 and lost to Illinois.

Alabama has a loss to a 3-3 (0-3) Florida State team but is still the highest ranked 1 loss team.

Cincinati lost to Nebraska and is ranked ahead of them. Both are 5-1

SEC has 10 teams
B1G has 5
B12 has 4
ACC has 3
American has 2
Notre Dame

Neb fan here. Comparing common opponents seems to be less relevant than ever. I know its cliche but there really arent any easy wins in power 4 anymore. Im not saying teams dont get blown out, but rather its not a sure thing.
The yearly roster shifts, the vastly different schemes that teams have. For example, teams dominant 3-4 dline shut down teams with strong running games (duh). But get gashed by a weaker team on paper that have a passing attack that can exploit that other teams only weakness. Etc. I know thats an obvious statement but it seems more prevalent than ever. Illinois beats USCs ass and then USC dominates Michigan. Washington obliterated an in-state rival and Ole Miss damn near gets upset. I have no expectations for this week, i just want a dub.

I love to compare scores, but agree it's all about match-ups and exploiting strengths and weaknesses. I also believe that week one scores prove nothing as it's the first game and teams know little about each other.
