per the oft-read Grand Island Independent:

For the second year in a row, Kill’s team had beaten the Huskers. Last year it was in Minneapolis. This year, it was on Senior Day in Lincoln.

A lot went into the Gophers’ 28-24 win, but basically it comes down to this: The smarter team won.

Now we’re not speaking academically. We are speaking on the field of play.

Go Gophers!!

Can't argue with anything in that article. Very reasonable Nebraska fan right there. I wonder though if they will start talking about firing Pelini again after this one

I think we are looking good enough this year that they aren't going to be looking to fire him because of one loss to Minnesota. They are going to be talking about firing him because he is going to finish third or fourth in the division.

They were talking about that before the game, after the game and during the game.

By far academically as well,,, 2015 US News and World Report lists the U of M number 29 globally and number 9 in the nation for best public school. Ski-U-Mah...so proud to be an alum!

Good read. The Gophers tough, never give up, mental attitude is directly a result of their coach, Jerry Kill's tough, never give up, mental attitude!

Thanks for posting that Bleed. I think it hits the situation in both programs accurately.

We've got some good athletes, so it's not like it's "The Tortoise versus the Hare," but I see Nebraska as having a bit of an edge in athleticism if you lined both teams up and ran them through a set of physical challenges. The difference is Kill and staff get more out of our guys than Pelini and staff get out of theirs.

I've always respected Pelini as a coach. Heck, I was halfway hoping we would have hired him instead of Brewster when Mason was let go. But as solid a defensive mind as Pelini has, he can't seem to impart any of that knowledge to his players and have them execute consistently.

The Gophers are not only the smarter team, but the last two years they have been the tougher team. Good example at the end when we needed a first down. Nebraska knew it would be a run up the middle and the Gophers still got the first down.

Good point.
