NDSU opens at Oregon on friday night, Im hoping the NDSU/GOPHER game is exciting this year, even with Woody and the crew, NDSU could never get that W at williams.

this year NDSU has starting:

Braun 6 7 (mr basketball oregon runner up to SINGLER @ DUKE)
Bjorkund 6 8 (mr Basketball Minnesota)
Twiedt 6 7 (player of year candidate)

I attend NDSU...Went to the game vs. Concordia...Wasn't all that impressed. I love my Bison, but am also an avid gopher fan. For one, NDSU is very undersized this season. The tallest starter on the court is 6'7. That will make immidiate problems for matching up against Iverson, Sampson and Mabakwe. The team refused to box in the Concordia game, and got dominated on the boards. Doing this against a Big Ten opponent such as Minnesota will burn them big time. Secondly NDSU is also not all that physical looking...aside from Carlson and Twiedt. Three point shooting and shooting in general was also a problem...aside from Twiedt's shots...I don't expect this game to be close...But I could be wrong...
 

Braun wasn't runner-up to Kyle Singler.

E.J. Singler, Kyle's brother, was the Oregon Gatorade Player of the Year in 2009 - the year Braun graduated. I have no idea if Braun was runner-up in that voting . . . but I'm pretty sure you don't either.

Lakes was kind of right, he just had as you say the wrong Singler.

This NDSU team is a complete mystery and nobody will really know how good we are until we play Oregon, UC Santa Barbara and Denver this weekend.

I wouldn't say the bizon are a mystery! you guys are young especially in the front court and undersized. you guys are a decent 3 point shooting team but don't have a slasher for anyone to fear! I see ndsu trying to live by the 3 but they die by the 3. and since ndsu can't rebound-d3 christian concordia kicked ndsu's ass on the glass, I don't see how the gophers don't win this game by less than 20!

Also, love Bjorklund in HS but he was not MN Mr. Basketball. It was Kevin Noreen.

We could have that guy in Freddy Coleman, if he can ever stay healthy. We are usually a very good rebounding team, I am not worried about stats from an exhibition game.

As for Bjorklund as usual lakes embellished his facts, he was the AP player of the year. Not quite the same as Mr. Basketball at all but still a decent honor. He will be a very good mid-major player.

well jags, I was thinking Gophers by 20.

but with devoe out, and NDSU playing as well as they did last night in Oregon vs Pac 10 team.

its gonna be a great exciting game for NDSU vs Minnesota!

The better recruits GOPHERS get, the better recruits NDSU gets, so hopefully MINNESOTA & NDSU stay successful!

You know, if you had more posts like this one and fewer that rip the Gophs my blood pressure would remain more constant when I read your stuff. It doens't help that my uncle in Bismarck pretty much thinks NDSU was mentioned in the bible just after Adam and Eve.

You are correct, it should be a good game. In this day and age, though, I think every game should be good. The days of great disparity in the D-1 ranks are over, imo.
 

NDSU beat UC-Santa Barbara (NCAA tourney team) & Denver Team to go 2-1 in oregon tourney
 

Nice showing. That is good from an RPI perspective.
 

you do realize OR is a lower mediocre team in a mediocre conf who lost their top talent over the last two years and had poor recruiting classes.

Oregon finished last in the Pac 10 last year and has a helluva good shot at repeating.

RPI=19 (which is very odd to me)

NDSU should be undefeated, lost to OREGON in overtime.

Gonna be a HUGE letdown for the gophers, lets see if NDSU can surprise them.

Woody could never beat the gophers, even with our NCAA team...... so maybe in some weird way, we'll beat the gophers this year without Woodside.

I've gotta imagine the twinks aren't out as much in the fall and winter. They don't like to be bundled up because they can't show off their tender, oiled-up abs for you.
