Up until last night, I chalked it up to a lost season. Could a healthier team make the NIT? Note: This question may be anchored in irrational exuberance.Gophers (92) move ahead of Maryland (99) for #16 spot in Big Ten Torvik rankings. Now right on the tail of #15 Penn State (91).
Baby steps. All wins are gold with the short roster. Gophers really need the big guy back.
Get better as the season progresses.

Not a healthier Big Ten, Big East, or B12 team. Teams from those conferences who do not make the NCAA tournament must go to the College Basketball Crown if they are invited and wish to play in a post-season tournament. They can decline to play in postseason but cannot decline a CBC bid to go to the NIT. The CBC took 5 teams with sub-.500 records last season (AZ State, Butler, Colorado, DePaul, and USC) so it's certainly possible that the Gophers could be invited even if they don't finish over .500.
