NBA combine measurements: Trevor, Colt, etc.

Trevor's vertical numbers are more "average" for an undersized pf than I had hoped. I wonder if he lost an inch or two with the knee injury? Other notable big verticals: 7' Cody Zeller had a 37.5 max vertical. Oladipo 42. Larkin 44.

I'm disappointed for him. That can't help.

http://www.nba.com/2013/news/05/17/nba-draft-combine-results/index.html - Those numbers aren't that bad, though I would have expected him to be more in the 34 & 40 range. Didn't Marcus report he had the team high vertical at 43" topping Rodney a couple years ago?

Zeller and Oladipo had a good combine - http://www.insidethehall.com/2013/05/20/draft-watch-oladipo-zeller-on-the-rise-after-combine/

Colt was on the low side at 26.5 & 30, but an inch or two better than I would have guessed.

Old Myron post

Myth No. 1: Super dunker and freshman forward Rodney Williams has the highest vertical leap on Minnesota’s squad.

False. While Williams recently soared to a 40-inch vertical in front of team trainers, junior college transfer Trevor Mbakwe topped him with a 42-inch leap, the best mark on the squad.

Yeah, before Mbakwe's injury that doesn't surprise me.

That old Myron column was a nice trip down memory lane. Boy, what could've been. White, Mbakwe, Westbrook, Nolen, Damian Johnson, Iverson, Sampson, Paul Carter, Hoffarber. That 2009 team is the one that should've shined.

For Trevor Mbakwe, the former University of Minnesota power forward is using the event to show NBA personnel that he has what it takes to make it at the next level despite his ups and downs through the Collegiate level. Standing at 6’8 with a ridiculous 7’4 wingspan, Mbakwe is seen as a blue collar athlete who will be a high energy player that is prepared to do all the dirty work for an NBA team. One of his best results of the day was running the sprint in 3.32 secs, the best among power forwards prospects in day two. Mbakwe is currently projected to go around the middle of the second half, but with more impressive results, do not be surprised if he is taken much higher. When asked what an NBA team will be getting if he is drafted, Mbakwe stated “…A hard-worker, someone who comes ready to work every day, play with energy, defend, rebound the ball, do all the little that are needed to win” Mbakwe has already gone through a mini workout with the Miami Heat, he has more planned workout with NBA teams in the coming days.

I know, it's just that I think we all expected him to stand out a little with his athleticism. He certainly lost some of his explosiveness. I just never would've guessed Zeller would outjump him, though Zeller's numbers were pretty ridiculous for what people expected. He definitely helped his stock a lot. It's hard to believe he had the best standing leap.

cody zeller has t-rex arms, thats why he got blocked so often against mbakwe, rodney and teh cuse zone, as for mbakwe having a 7-4 wingspan, i am shocked, i thought rodney had a huge wingspan with him being 6-7 with a 6-11 wingspan but trevor is 6-8with a 7-4 wingspan, that is unheard of, at least for me, i thought 4 inches was what most guys with long wingspans have

Colt was acutally faster in the Lane agility test than Trevor. Not even sure what that is, but that cannot be good.

If you put 20 lbs on Zeller is he Anderw Bogut, and wasn't he a #1 pick?

if we had royce white, a healthy trevor mbakwe, justin cobbs, devoe joseph and rodney williams on th same team that could have been a final 4 team with a good coach
there stats in 2011-12
cobbs 12 PPG 5 APG, honorable mention pac 12
devoe joseph 16PPG first team pac 12
rodney 12 PPG 5 RPG
royce 13 PPG 9RPG 5 APG, first team big 12 honorable mention all american
mbakwe(if he owuld have been healthy) he would have had 16 PPG and 12 RPG in 2011-12
