Texas UIL has track classes from 1A to 6A.

That shot put is very solid (IMO, anything over 60 feet in high school is outstanding). Discus also good.

Good job Mr. Jones......now start eating so you are ready to go to replace BSF after this season when he gets drafted!! :)

For those curious about the details.

He placed 2nd at the Texas UIL 3A state meet yesterday in shot put and discus:



These are in feet and inches (62-09.75 = 62 feet 9.75 inches) and the PR just means that throw was their "personal record".
OK, I'm setting this one up on a tee for someone:

"Oh man, he was so close in shot! If only he had another 2 inches..."

I like guys with a track background.

FWIW, Gopher OL recruit Tony Nelson, (Tracy-Milroy-Balaton) won the Shot in the Hamline Elite Meet with a best throw (& PR) of 64feet, 5-1/2 inches. He is the defending State Class A Champion in the event.

I've seen him play basketball, and he looks like he has bulked up now that hoops is over.
