per Sandell:
Win or lose, making it to the Citrus bowl is a major step for Minnesota, but this can't just be thought of as a moral victory. The next crucial milestone in the program's development remains notching a bowl victory. The Gophers have not won a bowl game since 2004, a run of six straight losses.
Under Kill, the Gophers have lost twice in the postseason, both losses coming in Houston. Last season's Texas Bowl defeat to Syracuse sat especially hard after they blew a 17-14 lead in the game's final minutes. Shortly after their return to Minneapolis, Kill and his staff had a long talk about what went wrong and vowed to not let it happen again. That message has carried through into this season.
Though it was clear Sunday that Minnesota's players and staff are excited about how their bowl fate played out, there is an understanding that the program still has much to prove, starting with finding a way to beat Missouri.
