Nadine Babu: Big Mo Walker Offers Size, Touch and Three Point Shooting

It’s a well known fact, Tubby Smith loves big men. And when he went North of the border to Canada, he found the biggest of them all! Already featuring a formidable front line, Smith added 300+lb big man, Maurice Walker to the mix. “Big Mo” gives the Gophers size that it has lacked for a number of years, and was so apparent two years ago in the teams first round loss to Texas. While offering a big build and lane-clogging presence, Walker has shown a surprisingly good outside shot, soft hands around the basket and decent athleticism. This combination has provided the Canadian freshman the opportunity for early playing time despite a crowded and experienced front court.

GopherHole’s Nadine Babu caught up with Walker at Gophers Media Day to learn more about his game, his size and what he plans on doing to get to an ideal size.
