Two twitters this AM.
- Cory Joseph attends Wolves game.
- Mbwake facebook entry.

Who knows, Myron might actually have other sources. It'd be interesting to post a bogus lead and see if Myron regurgitates it.

If he has other sources, he should tweet it last night then... Waiting til this morning, just dont do it all...

It's an ethical thing more than a legal thing. If you use someone else's work it is customary to credit that work.

I really don't think someone who is the beat writer for the Golden Gophers basketball team looks to GopherHole for his source of knowledge for the team. Let's be honest here.

Well, being honest; I'd say he definitely does. Things that have popped up on here have ended up in his column within a day or so, including some pretty specific information that was only posted on GH.

Not only that, but after there were a number of posts talking about some GHers lack of respect for him and his writing, he tweeted about his frustration with those that can write on message boards and stay anonymous.

99.9% chance that Myron peruses GH, no doubt.

Honestly...he does get info from this board.

Well, if Myron does look on here for information, that's just sad.

Why is that sad? GH is one of the better sources for Gophers info out there. Blogs/message boards break stories all the time. If you aren't looking at them because they aren't "legit" sources you are doing your readers a disservice. Especially given the quality of stories Rob, Nadine, Cory, and the rest of the crew put up.

I wouldn't say a beat writer should be extensively and regularly quoting a message board, but giving a hat tip for a lead once in a while is appropriate.

I'm just saying because this is a discussion board. I feel like we should be looking to media for information, not the other way around. But I guess times are changing...

I believe that GH did have info about Cory and Trevor before any other source did. I know I had just seen Trevor's FB status, he has posted it less than 5 minutes, and it was already posted here.

It's actually not that odd - Marcus and Myron are beat writers, that have to answer to editors. They have to check their facts before they put up a story. On a message board, we're able to put things up the second we see them, rumor or fact. That's typically why you do see things on the message board first.

GL...""On a message board, we're able to put things up the second we see them, rumor or fact. That's typically why you do see things on the message board first. ""

rumor or fact is the big part of your comment. Facts are great, rumors just rile people up. But the fact remains, a beat writer must verify accuracy, not just spread rumors. That is the difference, and that is also why GH is fun.
