Myron blog: Tubby Smith names likely starters for Tuesday exhibition

Aside from having Rodney and Trevor the line-up doesn't seem that athletic or likely to start. Next year's team could be the most athletic in the big ten if we only lose our seniors. I don't see these guys all starting together either, but would be fun to see them flying around the floor together:

Hollins, Coleman, Hollins, Rodney, Trevor.

Hoffarber Will Lead in Minutes

Wow a lot of analysis over a starting line-up in an exhibition game here. I think I'll just trust that Tubby knows what he's doing and not get worked up. I think Devoe will lead the team in minutes this year whether he starts or not. Hopefully this is what matters most to him as well.

Blake will lead Devoe in minutes, but they will be the leaders in minutes.

I've never been a fan of the hockey-style subs simply because I think it makes it difficult for the starters to get into any type of sustained rhythm. I am a big believer that you should put your best five players on the floor to start the game to set the tempo, much like Myron indicated. I feel like all he best teams play 7-8 guys and have no problem. It's not like the Gophers play at a break-neck speed that would warrant such a substitution pattern either.

Aside from the exhibition games, I think the rotation should be a mix of these players: Nolen, Joseph, Mbakwe, Sampson III, Iverson, Williams, Hoffarber, Hollins and Walker. I think the bulk of the minutes should go to the first seven on the list.

I would not be surprised to see Austin break into the starting lineup.

Watching him run the floor - he reminds me of Jamaal Wilkes (Silk). He is a similar size (6-6). Understand he is a very good shooter too.

Think the Gophers got a steal.

Ummm, if Hollins was 6-6 I think he'd be a sure-fire NBA prospect already. I think he barely reaches 6-4. Still a good player though, but not 6-6...

Pretty sure he's at least 6-4, at least with shoes on which is what the NBA uses for their measurements.
