Offense: I'd give them a B-. They're a ball control offense who put up 38 & continued establishing some identity with Bennett & Gray emerging as the play-makers & Wills/Carufel as the workhorses we run behind when it counts.

QB: Weber had some ups and downs but played well enough to win. 170 QB rating, 38 Points, this loss was not on him.

RB: Nice to see Bennett separating himself from the pack and establishing himself as the go-to back. We've lacked that for some time now. wtf was Brewster thinking on that 4th and 1 pitch left? POUND THE ROCK BREW!!! Kirkwood better pick up the blocking & scheme aspects of the game because we need him to play. Despite the hate for Eskridge, he's steady and dependable and will continue to play.

WR: Brew looks a little less silly with his "Gray could be a top-10 draft pick as a WR" quote after this performance. Gray had some drops, one high one that he should have pulled down (stars in the Big-10 make that catch), but overall you can see the development. McKnight looked ok again, he's another one with huge upside who's a work in progress. Stoudermire had the nice TD, also had a stupid penalty..again. Is Brandon Green still alive?

TE: Siiigh. Lair looked out of sync 1/2 the time, Eure had the horrible TD drop. Hughes had a stupid penalty. The TE's should be a strength & they're not.

OL: Overall they looked pretty good again. I saw nice push up the middle behind Burris/Bunders a few times & I saw nice push again behind Wills/Carufel. Running behind Wills is our bread and butter right now as he's become our best lineman imo.

K: EE better find the "eye of the tiger" & fast. Also, Brew;s a big "special forces" fan so you know they're putting the full court press on the top kickers in the country. We should be a lot better at this position next year.

Defense: For those of you who thought the national magazines were crazy because our new players were more talented than the guys they were replacing guess what? The mags were dead-nuts on...at least at this point. Inexperience killed us. The good news is we'll get better as the season moves along.

DE: What can you say? Garin is over-matched at this point. He continually lost contain and stood out on a defense full of bad play. It makes me wonder where KGM & Shede are at when they're riding the pine as Garin stinks it up out there.

DT: We looked ok. Edwards is a load and got penetration a few times. What you'd expect really from a 330lb Jr playing against USD. Kirksey was mia.

LB: I think we're all excited to see Cooper/Rallis/Tinsley play because they ARE more athletic than the last crew (which is saying something because Lawrence/Triplett were very athletic). Right now though they're inexperienced and were caught with their pants down time and time again. What's more frustrating is not only did they over-pursue the whole game and get beat, but when they recovered they made sloppy tackles and allowed small gains to turn into touchdown jogs. All-in-all this is on the players. The coaches have them lined up where they should be, they know their assignments & it's on them to execute damn it!! and tackle! Coaches shouldn't have to show Big-10 LB's how to tackle. An F for all three of these players.

CB: Mike Carter better get his act together. He really stunk it up & like BPT last year he's still jawing, even as he's getting toasted. Memo to MC....stf up and play.

S: Manuel & Lewis were horrible. Manuel was frequently out of position which led to him getting to to the plays late and missing tackles. I saw early on he got crushed AGAIN because he got ot the ball late & the ball carrier almost knocked his helmet off. It was harder for me to gauge Lewis because aside from a couple obvious missed tackles he was mostly invisible.

P: We're in good hands with Orseske.

Pretty good summation. I'd probably give the DT's as a group a little more love, but minor.

Right on the money with the TE's. That drop by Eure was horrible. Sadly, it was followed by two more horrible plays.

I just don't understand how Carter was that bad? I mean really, really bad.
