Music City Bowl (Nashville) VS Duke's Mayo Bowl (Charlotte)

I have been to both cities. They are both nice but Nashville is a blast and I don't even like country music.
This. I'm not a country music fan, but my wife and I had a blast as well while in Nashville. The fact you can walk down Broadway and pop into any of the bars and hear live music while sipping on a cold one was pretty neat. We also ate at Monell's, which was fun, if you like family style serving and sitting at a big table amongst other people.

Nashville without a doubt. Been to the Music City Bowl. They do(at least did) create a great atmosphere for the game.

Do work in Nashville multiple times a year, would never turn down a reason to go, and I too do not like traditional country music but you can find whatever genre you like if you try hard enough and tip. Plus Winter isn’t busy, stay clear in the summer if you hate crowds or lines.

Agreed! Potentially, it can get fairly cold (like in the 20s) in late December evenings though so people shouldn't treat it like Florida or Southern California.

Nashville for sure over Charlotte, but I’d likely consider either. Agree with others that Tampa or Orlando would be preferable to both, mostly for level of opponent, but also weather and national reputation. Regardless of outcome, 1 or 2 more wins will really have MN in an attractive bowl game…and who would’ve thought that in Sept/early Oct?

Got the go ahead from the wife to book either of these bowls if we happen to make one of them. I have not been to either city, wife is hoping for Nashville. Which of these games would you guys prefer and why?
Are you limited to those two bowls? What if we get something like the Reliaquest bowl in Tampa?

Dukes vs ACC or Music City vs SEC

I love dunking on SEC teams so i'd go that way but we have family around the Charlotte area) so i'd probably have a better pass at getting that one

I spend my Winter's in Tucson. I don't think there's much of a chance that the Gophers will be in the "Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl" snoop.JPG

No that would be awesome. Basically I can go to whatever Bowl we make lol. My wife said it’s my Xmas present to myself. Tampa sounds fun too! I just read projections n keep seeing the 2 I mentioned but I think the Reliaquest Bowl is even a better Bowl so let’s hope!

I've never heard anyone say Charlotte is evenly remotely comparable to Nashville. Not that Charlotte is bad per se, but it's a bank city and a far cry nightlife and entertainment wise from Nashville.

Having said that- I've never been to Charlotte, and have been to Nashville 3 times. So wouldn't mind checking another place off the list!

Had to drive from Twin Cities to and from Atlanta last summer that had us going through Nashville.

It was the only city I've driven through that made Atlanta driving seem tame. The average speed on the interstate actually went up at the city limit coming into Nashville. It dropped accordingly when you left the city limit.

The rule in Atlanta is drive as fast as everyone else at all times no matter the speed limit.

In Nashville it seemed like you should always be speeding up no matter how fast. Was glad to be through it.

Back to the topic, I think Nashville would be better because what's been said and it is in decent driving distance if that's what you need to do. Charlotte is too far from here to really make driving feasible from the TC.

Pinstripe Bowl or Bust🤣

Pinstripe Bowl or Bust🤣
Honestly that would be my wife’s number 1 choice! We never been to NYC and she would love to go around Xmas time. I would be totally ok with NYC other than the fact that it’s not as good of a bowl. We live in Los Angeles so I don’t care about weather, wouldn’t mind going to cold and seeing the stadium of the World Series losers!!!! Haha for real tho I would love to see that venue and Bowl unlike most GopherHolers

Charlotte is very vanilla as far as big cities go. Unless you're into NASCAR, Charlotte isn't really a destination that most people would consider for a vacation. It's not bad or anything, just not remarkable.
Plus, the weather in late December isn't great.

Also, not a bad idea to book hotels for multiple destinations. Just make sure there is free cancellation and set a reminder to cancel.

Then…about 3 days before, see if prices have gone down…hint…they won’t during the holiday season, but it’s worth a look.

Charlotte, but I am biased. I live here. It's a very central city. Meaning you can hit everything in a 3 day trip and not really experience much traffic. Nice weather and no country music is a plus as well.

I’ll be in Nashville next week. it is a hoppin’ town. 50 hotels downtown per my taxi driver last year. Locals now call it Nash Vegas. Charlotte is nice, and I’d be happy yo go there for a bowl game. But Nashville is at a different level for visitors.

Having been to Nashville twice in the past 2 years, while no doubt country is king in Music City, there's plenty of all kinds of music on Broadway.

It didn't fit my preconceived notion.
