And as for The Princess Bride, I strongly recommend watching it-it seems we have similar tastes and it's a movie that I adore for a wide variety of reasons-clever writing, the humor, solid story, the actors involved, the ability for it to be enjoyed by just about any age group.

Normally on In Flight viewing options, I opt for movies I have seen before in case I want to take a nap or just can't finish before landing. Don't want to be left hanging. Today though I chose to cross The Princess Bride off the list.

Really good for all the reasons you listed, great cast/performances. Easy to see why this made Robin Wright into a big star.

I was surprised that Andre the Giant's role was more than just a cameo, just wasn't aware. Very impressive. Conversely, I assumed Billy Crystal had more than just a bit part. An hour in I was wondering where he was, but he really delivered in his scene, along with Carol Kane. Also fun to see Columbo and Kevin Arnold as grandfather-grandson.

Only thing left to decide is what movie now replaces this one. I'm going with I ❤️ Huckabees. Need to round out seeing David O Russell's oeuvre

Ooooooffff!! I recall watching that movie and remember thinking it was terrible, like super shitty. It's been a while, and maybe I was having a bad day, but damn I don't recall that being worth a shit.

Man, that was so long ago I don't remember if I saw it in the theater or at home. IF it was in the theater, there's a decent chance it was good. If it was at home, it was damn sure good. I make mine on the stove, kernels in avocado oil, with some salt. Gotta salt it fairly quickly after it comes out of the pan on the stove, it takes the salt better if it's warmer with that little residue of oil on it still.

I've tried peanut oil, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, vegetable oil, and avocado oil. Strangely enough, avocado oil is the best for both healthier (like I care, but it helps) and for taste. And I've never eaten an avocado in my life.

That reminds me, time to fire up some popcorn right now, about to sit down and finish the show we've been watching!
 

There are several of the Bond movies I haven't seen. Never was a Pierce Brosnan fan, so I skipped all of his Bond movies.

Of the Daniel Craig movies, I haven't seen the last two.

I have never seen any of the Harry Potter movies from start to finish. caught a few bits and pieces on TV.

My recent flight to Iceland had somewhat limited options, and many were old. I ended up watching “Best In Show”, as I know people rave about it. Holy damn it was funny. Should have watched it a long time ago.

It is a pure treasure.

If you enjoyed that one so much then make sure to check out Waiting for Guffman. Same troupe essentially, I think it's right on par with Best in Show.

I saw 2001 on its first release in 1968 - in CinemaScope - in a big theatre in Chicago. I was 13. the ending sequence was mind-blowing.

Having seen it later, there are parts of the movie that drag a little bit, and some of the acting is a little stiff - but you can say that about several Kubrick films.

But just as a visual spectacle, it's still an amazing film to watch - with arguably the greatest jump-cut in movie history, when the thrown bone suddenly becomes a space ship in orbit.

I am going to audible, I do want to see Huckabees but that really does not fit the "everyone else has seen" part of the equation.

Switching it to Dodgeball.

I think Beetlejuice would have fit in this category, I had not seen it until today.

I thought it was very underwhelming. Pretty boring and not as much comic levity as I expected. As much as I like Michael Keaton, didn't really care for his character. Catherine O'Hara's role was a waste of her talent.

Winona Ryder was decent. Maybe I will like Edward Scissorhands.

I saw "The Nightmare Before Christmas" for the first time (with the Minnesota Orchestra). It was typical Tim Burton. Strange, but enjoyable.

The Titanic action sequences are actually really good. Back when cable tv was still a thing, I'd catch the disaster scenes every once in a while. Really good movie-making if you skip past the sappy stuff.
 

A few months ago I caved in to watching Dazed and Confused. Didn’t think much of it.

I have seen 1 Star Trek movie (dad took us to one when I was about 13)

I have seen 1 Marvel movie. My son begged me to take him to one when he was about 11, but I don't remember a thing about it (not even the name).

I saw Huckabees over the weekend. You were right. Dreadful.
 

A movie that would have fit this category for me until this weekend was The Outsiders. I am not sure why I did not see it previously (I was in HS at the time), as I know my brother saw it and liked it at the time of the original release.

It's become somewhat of a cult classic, especially considering the careers the young cast had.

I have to say....Meh.

Now, I saw the original version which is just over 90 minutes. Coppola has since added 22 minutes as more of a Director's Cut. I had presumed Lowe & Cruise had bigger parts. I guess a lot of that extra content features Lowe/Sodapop.

Ralph Macchio was really good, and I would have liked more screen time for Diane Lane. Who wouldn't.

Matt Dillon has had much better performances. I thought he was a bit over the top.
