Was surprised to read this:

"When you come in, you always want to be the guy," Alipate said. "MarQueis is doing a good job leading those guys. Coach always says put the best player out there, and right now MarQueis is doing a great job.

"Whatever is going to help the team win is what we're going to have to do. If that means going out and playing another position to help the team, then I'm willing to do it."

I am NOT surprised to read that. Though I think you may as well leave him at QB. IMO he is as likely to contribute down the road at QB as another position.

This year, he has about a 5% chance of contributing at QB, if Gray gets hurt and Parish is ineffective and/or injured in relief. After this year, he has 0% chance of ever seeing the field at QB, as he will be 4th string or worse each of his last 2 seasons. Surely he has a better chance of contributing at a position such as TE/H-back (maybe even DE, though doubtful) than he will at QB in 2012 and 2013.

Moses has a great arm. If he can shed another 25 lbs, it would not surprise me at all if he is in the hunt for the back-up QB role in the fall. I think Moses has some talent and I wish him the best, whether it is at QB or another position.

I saw a note from Mike Max that his little brother is looking at walking on the football and basketball teams at the U. Hope he does. Never hurts to have willing walk-ons.

Max also said

the gophers are trying to get Iverson back. I almost fell over when i heard that.

Not one bit surprised.

I knew and posted years ago when he was still in HS that Moses would never be the starting quarterback at the U. People mocked and ridiculed me - even going so far as saying I must have something against him. I was simply trying to calm everyone's high expectations since most had never seen him play and I had, and just wasn't impressed. Now, all this time later the same issues I was pointing out at the time are the ones holding him back; lack of mobility - and most importantly - accuracy.

Hopefully he can find a place to help the team. He is intelligent, a good athlete, very strong, a good teammate, and a good person.

This year he has about a 1% chance at contributing at QB (I think the current top 2 would both have to get hurt and maybe even Shortell if they wanted to burn the redshirt). And I will not dispute what you said his chances are after this season of seeing the field at QB.

But I will stand by my statement that he is as likely to see the field at QB as he is at any other position. He doesn't have the quickness or explosiveness to play TE or H-Back. He was a very soft basketball player in HS, can't really picture him going over the middle in division 1 football. He is not strong enough or explosive enough to move to either line. His best hope to play at any point is working hard at QB, slimming down a little bit and waiting to be called upon in case of injuries.

The reason he was given a D-1 scholarship was his big frame and big arm. He was not a D-1 athlete in terms of quickness, strength, or athleticism. In my opinion he has almost 0 chance at ever seeing the field at a position other than QB.

Glad he is having a great attitude though.

I think his little brother would be more likely to see the field at some point in their 5 year careers than Moses assuming the other QB's stay healthy. Marcus A is quick enough to be a backup in the slot (and WRs tend to rotate a lot more).

You get a cookie. I predict that you will continue to be mocked and ridiculed. Anyone?

the fact that he hasn't slimmed down to this point is not a good start for the kid. marcus seems to think he's pretty buried already on the depth chart. he never won in hs, why would he win in college? good kid though.
