Morris didn't play in 2nd half yesterday

We have officially Jumped the Shark with Pitino Circle Jerk sessions.

Okay coach- who were you going to put in for Morris? Carlos has Buggs (who I like for the future but who is as big of an X factor as Morris) behind him and nothing else except for going with three guards 6-1 and smaller. EE had Walker clearly in front of him and Bakary who has more potential by a mile than EE was starting to perform better than EE on both ends of the court. Two totally different situations. Have you seen Elliot's attitude on the sideline? I don't know for sure, but if somebody wants to look at the problem with the seniors- that would be a really good place to start poking around for clues. Here's a kid who never seemed to make himself better from year to year in terms of skills and who was always seen whining about every call. He didn't lose his playing time for nothing and I'm not quite sure how he got embarrassed on senior day. He got to start right?

Well, towel boy, you play pretty much anybody who is willing to move the ball, position himself properly and play defense. The two obvious alternatives are Buggs and the three guard line up. Both of those scenarios have glaring deficiencies but they are still preferable to 20-26 minutes of me ball every game.

Elliott was improving steadily until this year. He was never going to be all B1G, but his game had grown. People are talking themselves into loving Gas and Konate and it seems a bit premature. If you are going to bench EE for whining then you should bench Morris for undermining the team concept. Players respect consistency even if they disagree with decisions. That's how Knight got away with his crap all those years. He didn't play favorites.

I've never seen someone who has been with the program for five years and played a significant role given as little PT as Eliason on senior day. Have you?

Eliason was rightfully on the bench. Walker's career day was the only thing that kept the Gophers in the game. Eliason just did not have enough skill or athleticism to be a major factor, even after five years. Pitino's handling of his PT was appropriate.

Agree I feel like Konate gives us a better chance than Eliason

Wow, a ton of speculation on this thread. It's stuff like this that makes a coach pull all electronics from his players and isolate them from the public.

This senior class has no one to blame for this years results other than themselves.

Yes I agree. There is a ton of speculation not knowing what Pitino said to the families down in the locker room. For all we know they had a great moment outside of the public eye.

I feel for these seniors. They were recruited for Tubby's system. They were asked to make tremendous changes in order to further contribute with the team under Pitino. All of these guys gave one hell of an effort and for that I am proud of them. I can't imagine its easy to be asked to play differently especially when you are pushed to your physical limitations.

As far as the senior day goes. I missed the family walk in by minutes. I think these guys may have been a little awkward because their college careers didn't end up with the success they set out for. I completely feel for them. I wish it would have been different for this group.

With that I think we all should give them credit for facing adversity and trying to do the best they can with the hand they were dealt. They all could have ran to other programs to have success and playing time, but they opted to fight hard for us.

Interesting that Carlos didn't play in the second half yesterday, maybe Pitino was trying to send some sort of message. I think it's certainly fair to point out where Carlos struggled (shot selection, half court defense, etc), but this team also needed his willingness to take a shot at times this year. I think it's obvious that he was out of control at times and made numerous poor decisions on the court, but we need more guys with his type of self confidence on the roster. I don't think the zone Chipola played last year did Carlos any favors in adjusting to what is expected defensively at the B1G level either. I wouldn't be shocked to see Carlos end up transferring after this year, nor would I be shocked to see him make some adjustments and have a nice (not spectacular) Senior year.

EE didn't fit Pitino's playing philosophy at all, he couldn't double team and trap the ball, on the open court be it offense or defense he just isn't effective, in a system that clogs the middle he has some value, he didn't with the Gophers this year. That is why I am high on Konate, he has the athletic ability to thrive in this system more than even Walker, he's got a bit of development but the upside is huge. Hope we get in the NIT where he can get some playing time and develop a bit.

Alternatives?

Agree with your thoughts...the Michigan State game was not that long ago...he did send the game to overtime and score 20 points. We don't have anybody consistent in almost any positive phase of the game or able to score consistently when defended. Morris brings hope he'll have a Michigan State game. Too many others offer less hope they might score. No matter how good you are defensively as a team somebody has to score for your team. Morris brings that and lots of flaws along with it.
We need better players. I agree with the earlier thought Joey King is the closest we have to trustworthy...closest thing to somebody you can count on. And if that is true how can anybody be disappointed in 6 and 12 with almost all the losses being close? We need better players. Mason is the only other guy who is steady.

I literally believe that this writer does not know the meaning of literally.

They should be embarrassed to post this on their site.

If BleedGopher means that Carlos Morris does nothing on defense, then BG would have been correct in the usage of literally.
