Sounds like one person at the "U" planted the Fedora tip. It's a big-time game. If an announcement happens "soon", likely a name we'll like.

LOL, this is just awesome, just following this whole thing. Just so fascinating.
 



...and annoying, because anyone can pretend to be an "insider," and justify self-fabricated rumors as "unnamed sources" and "informed speculation." Just label your speculation as "wild guess" instead of "inside sources."

It is getting too late in the day now for anything substantial to be announced, I would think. In fact, we may look back at this whole thing a month from now (when the coach still hasn't been announced) and laugh. But, it sure seems like something is brewing, and we are close to an announcement.

It would be just like the U Athletic Dept. to announce it about 10 minutes into the basketball game and about 10 minutes after the 6:00 news has ended. :rolleyes:

Someone on KFAN Rubechat posted an interesting nugget from GI about Dan Mullen from earlier today. I don't know the protocol for pasting their pay content, so I won't, but it's on KFAN's site.
 


If an earlier post is true, gotta keep an eye on FB or the U's twitter.

Au contrair! Many times an existing coach will flee in the middle of the night. Lou Holtz bolted for Notre Dame at night. Lane Kiffin left Tennessee high and dry in the middle of the night. If we are getting an current coach it could be announced anytime.

Right; hell Bob Irsay packed up the whole darn Baltimore Colts organization in the middle of the night and fled for Indy!
 

Really interesting. Not sure I believe it ... but ... if true, we should announce him as the next coach within the next half an hour. No joke. Can't wait around for other teams to woo him, he's probably the top realistic candidate on our board.
 


Though interesting, I find it even more interesting that even though Mullen's name comes up occasionally on message boards, he seems to be lost in the smokescreen if I may say it that way.
 




I'd still rather have Golden, but count me in as "quite pleased" with a Mullen hire.
 

Golden and Bellotti have been my interchangeable 1 and 1A, but Mullen would probably be 1B.
