Monson recruits

The only way they go to the NCAA's is win their last two reg season games and get to the B10 tournament finals, and even then I think it is 50/50 at best. Probably need to win the B10 tourney. The way they have been playing I would say that is prayer...

I think if we split are last two games and go to the Big 10 tournament finals we are in the NCAAA tournament.

What would your post about Royce be if Tubby hadn't recruited him (citing character issues) and he committed to Kentucky and was their star player? Tubby couldn't even land Royce White? Fire him? He can't land the top talent in the state? Terrible judge of talent?

(To add to your "personalities" argument. Royce White LOVED Tubby. Always said he did. Never once uttered a bad word or even hinted at one. Royce didn't transfer because of Tubby, he transferred because of the UMPD and what he felt was unfair treatment)

What if he didn't land Rodney? A 4-Star recruit out of MN? (Same as Leaur was actually ...) Would you be saying ... another failure at landing a top in-state recruit? He's the same as Monson?

As far as Devoe, it is common knowledge he failed a drug test (two actually) and was possibly doing worse than that. How is that Tubby's fault now?

I agree with everything except for the Devoe part. It is not common knowledge that he failed a drug test. It is common SPECULATION, and even then it has only been a handful of people that have been saying it over and over. I haven't seen anything that is remotely close to PROOF of a failed drug test, and I doubt that you have either.

I've heard from someone who sat right behind him at a volleyball game about Devoe. I don't know anything about a drug test, but he didn't represent the University in a positive way.

Ive railed FoT on a number of subjects...but we also agree on many as well. Morongopher...you are an idiot and a troll. That said, if we go back to when Cobbs was signed and then last year when he played...this board was about 80/20 Cobb wasn't good enough...he left and most of us didn't care...because we had two quality PGs in Al and Devoe. I am guessing that the Cory Joseph sweepstakes that we lost had an impact on Tubby securing a Juco PG for this year...and instead we got Maverick. Still not a big deal...until Devoe got suspended and then Al got hurt and Devoe defected to Oregon. Tuff to predict all that. Tuff to predict the loss of a Sr wing player, starting, back up and third string pg and top 25 recruit when recruiting...which is done 12-18 months out...not 2-3 months out.

I am not saying we shouldn't be doing better...but it is hard for me to castrate Tubby for not having a f*cking crystal ball 18 months before the start of this season so he could have predicted all the changes we were going to have...that way he could have recruiting two PGs and 2 SFs for this team and not taken the transfer in Halverson, Otto's redshirt and EE's redshirt and he could have kicked Devoe off the team instead of losing him midseason.

Since NON OF US PREDICTED THIS EITHER...maybe we can cut the f*cking team some slack and realize sh*t happens to everyone...whether you make 1.8 mil per year like Tubby or $8 per hour like you morongopher.

I cut the team slack. Tubby gets no slack cut. The big lineup is terrible and his inability to go away from shows his stubbornness. I would love to see +/- stats for the guys post Al's injury.

you think if MN goes 7-11 in the Big Ten and then 3-1 in the B10 tourney they are in?

has a 7-11 team ever made it without an automatic bid?

I would have to bet no on that one, but I could be wrong...

There is no need to resort to name calling. It's immature. I have never said a negative thing about you personally, just your precious team. I'm not sure what is more sad, the fact that you take what people say about the gophers so personally, or the fact that you call people out from behind your computer.

You said it morongopher...it is not your team and your not a fan...just a troll...go screw yourself and your fake fandom.

Ohhh, the irony. People on here appreciate FOT more than they appreciate you. I wouldn't expect you to have figured that out by now though.

Don't you see Friend of Tubby? Few -- if any -- people on this board agree with you. Stop being stubborn and start seeing this whole thing from another perspective.

I have never seen proof of it either, I just have a source close to the team. Take that for what you will. Who told me it was a drug issue.

I don't think that is the ONLY reason he transfered though. I think he was in Tubby's doghouse and didn't like it. He had AAU coaches in his ear (per Sid) telling him if he wanted to go pro he needed to leave Tubby.

It was a poor decision (based on his eligibility now) and I hope who ever gave him the advice to do it (if it was anyone besides himself) that he will no longer take their advice to heart.

He may find it tough to get to the NBA in 1.5 seasons with Tubby, going to be a lot harder in less time at Oregon.

Last year's team left 4 or 5 W on the table (Miami FL, Tex A&M, at IU, at NWU, Mich St and Purdue at home) so they must not have been Super Glue.

The team was 16-4 and playing well (Top 15 ranked) until Nolen got hurt again, period.

In the Big Ten they beat Purdue and got it handed to them by any other team of any substance. We would have surely been a better team with Nolen, but even with him we had a hard time against the top half of the BT.

Tubby should have brought in a bonified PG this past fall. With the team that was assembled and Nolan being a senior, there is no excuse for not having a top PG with Tubby's credentials.

3pt loss AT ohio state and game coming down to last possession AT wisconsin (who didnt lose at home this year) is "getting it handed to them?" I know it seems like it's been a long time since we were that awesome top 15 team but come on man, we could beat anyone in the BT with al.

Well said. I don't know for sure about the drug test thing however. Either way, I think some here expect Tubby to be able to see into the future. I don't think Joseph had any character issues out of high school. As it turned out, the Royce White situation was a lose-lose one for Tubby. He took a chance and he gets criticized for it because he's not on the team anymore. If he doesn't recruit White, then these same people would have been all over Tubby.

Tubby deserves some of the blame, no doubt about it. But acting like he's the main reason is just wrong in my opinion.

Sorry, shouldn't have used "handed it to them". Doesn't much matter, a loss is a loss whether it is by 1 or 20. I do also agree, we could play with the good teams, but beating them takes not falling apart at the end of games. They were doing the same back then. Heck, even most of the games we have been losing lately have been 2-6 point losses. We have been just TERRIBLE at the end of games. Noone has stepped up to make the big shot and our defense has allowed the other teams to go on big runs at the end of games. We have been outscored something like 25-2 in the last 2 games in the last 34 minutes of each. YUCK, PUKE, GAG, COUGH.
