Monson Recruiting Here Again-Michael Haynes, Noreen, Eliason,Hollins

Just reporting the recruiting news from today. You are right, please disregard the previous take. I hope we can steal this Michael Haynes guy even though we are getting in on him late. He sounds like Carlos Boozer. The real test will be showing our local recruit we are hosting that we are a better destination than the other schools on his trail. It's going to be hard to out recruit Liberty and Denver though.

AK - You seem to have a strong opinion of Noreen. Have you ever seen him play? If you have, could you please share your assessment?

Haven't seen him play, have nothing against him, but the program he plays for has a big black eye for running up the scores on inferior opponents in the state's smallest class. Actually did see him play in the state tournament, but based on scouting reports he's gotten bigger. Wished he played at the varsity level so we knew how good he is.

their schedule this year isn't as bad as it has been in the past. played patrick henry, crosby, minnetonka, minneapolis edison, staples, rosevelt, holy family, and columbia heights.

Kind of reminds me of Sen. John Kerry's, "I actually voted for the $87 billion before I voted against it."

Ha. I edited my post and didn't take out the first sentence. I've seen him play, just not yet this year. I had that coming.

Probably more coming against you. By all accounts, he dominated the #2 2010 player in the state and main Mr. Basketball candidate, including dunking over Jake Thomas of Columbia Heights in January (Jake was #1 on Tubby's wish list until he determined Thomas couldn't get eligible). The stat line vs. Thomas was 27 points, 12 assists, 7 rebounds and 6 steals.

He's frequently noted on Preps/Rivals in performing well against top-rated national guys like Beal and Jesperson. Why you wouldn't be intrigued by a 6'6" combo guard with live legs is kind of puzzling.

He needs to play a varsity schedule, he got 8 pts against Minnetonka.

Very intelligent and informed response. Yeah, #4-ranked Columbia Heights is a JV team with 4 D-I prospects in their line-up.

No disrespect, but Columbia Heights isn't even ranked in class 3A. I know Jacob Thomas is a DI talent, but I haven't heard of the others. Minnetonka isn't ranked either.
