MODS: Stop Closing, Moving and Messing with Threads

A change that would address perhaps my major problem with "all things" threads" is to start a new thread when there is a significant new development rather than just amend the topic, especially in the case of very active threads. That way one who has not kept up with a large thread wouldn't have to shift through stale material to get to the new development material.

When do you have to sift through stale material to get to the new development? Just click on the last page of the thread to see what's going on?

I'm sure it's a difficult job but sometimes they do seem too eager to move and combine.

I gotta say it. Reading other peoples pissing contests is my favorite thing about this board.

You guys are doing a wonderful job! keep it up! I want to read about gopher stuff first... I don't want to read about some guy in northern Arizona if he is thinking about transferring. And I don't want to read about tyus jones if he is not going to be a gopher go to the duke board to talk about him. Thanks for your job well done

What you're saying is there is more information/discussion than you would like. Might be best if more points of interest were kept separate.

I'm sure you're using the Tyus thread as an example, but what is so bad if there are two or three threads on a page that don't interest you?.......pretty easy to skip those threads. We don't all like the same things.

It's good having a thread like this so everyone can add their opinions and feedback.

Clicking on the last page isn't necessarily going to bring you to the start of the new development discussion. For a really big development it is likely that one would have to scan several pages to find the starting point. I shouldn't think that starting new threads for significant developments - i.e. ones typically resulting in an amended topic - should result in any objectionable proliferation of threads.

When there is a huge development the thread title is edited. Like I said earlier, if you want all news and zero discussion you should just use twitter. Forums are for discussion, not just news aggregation.

It's always interesting to see those who complain, and then to click on the Donor page and shockingly, those who complain the most and loudest rarely donate.

Mods, keep up the great work. I couldn't ask for a better site. I go to a lot of sites and none have the amount of free recruiting articles, columns, press coverage analysis as this does. I hope you don't let those who scream the loudest (and as this thread shows, continue to complain over and over in the same thread) get to you. Not sure what I'd do without GopherHole! Best site I go to. Happy to be a donor. http://www.gopherhole.com/page/show/383462-donate-to-gopherhole-com

Two things:

1. Twitter language is beyond me, and
2. We all know that Gopher news breaks here and shows up on the aggregators later :)

Can you find an interesting tweet?

You're one to talk. After complaining to the mods about my posts because I didn't share you're thrill over the NIT, I had a half dozen posts disappear.

For those who aren't aware, this site is actively watched and semi-controlled by the Gopher athletic department. I have had numerous threads and posts deleted by the mods because someone at Bierman or the basketball program didn't want it posted. They will allow people to voice their frustrations, but only up to a point.

Ok Mr Ventura.

For whatever reason my donations have not been listed, but I am a donor.

Mods, can we please lock this thread? Or move it to the "all things whining" thread?

My dislike for the mods on this board is well documented. They are a bunch of border state troll loving SOBs.

I condone the mods for removing nonsensical troll posts. As for some mass conspiracy.........are you joking?

I think overall the moderators do an excellent job, but I would assume that they would value feedback and be open to suggestions for improvement. There have been a couple of inappropriate remarks, but for the most part I think this has been a useful discussion.

I agree. I was just being HILARIOUS! The mods work a lot harder on keeping this a great board than any poster does. They can do what they want, and if I don't like, I'm free to not visit. I keep visiting.

I think the Mods are running amuck with closing, locking, and merging threads. Back off and let the users decide what threads to start, read, and support. The rise of the ALL THINGS threads has made the site less readable and enjoyable, IMHO.

The straw that broke this camel's back was closing the infamous Shaka thread. What the heck!

Ok, now quick, merge, move, close or otherwise ban this thread before someone sees it.
