MN,NE,WI,IA, MI and MSU ?

well, that answers that.

Delaney has already said that the divisions are for football only.

So we are in for just as long and drawn out debate when that comes around?

Agreed. What a completely "loon"-ey suggestion.

After reading the last few posts to be a fair and as a point of full disclosure I should have mentioned two things in my original post.

1. Not being in the same Division as Purdue should be a considered a benefit. They only lost to the Gophers twice from 1994 to 2007. Minnesota has won the last two but still that's a pretty bad record.

2. Even though it is referred to as the Big TEN they actually have ELEVEN teams and when they go to TWELVE they are STIll going to be the BIG TEN! OH, that's going to really piss him off..

There I hope that helps!

Why do you guys just make up things whenever you want? We have won six of our last seven meetings, not seven out of eight. (

You're right. I'm so sorry. I was incorrect. Incidentally, so are you in that I went back and checked, and it's actually 6 out of the last 8, not 7 out of 9. Nevertheless, this was an unforgivable error on my part, as it drastically distorted history in order to support my otherwise offensive and factually incorrect argument.

Really? you of all peolple are going with this?

I have decided to go another way with this.
Someone made a mistake. You could have just corrected the mistake. Instead you go off on a diatribe. In what way do you think this helps to raise the discourse on this board to new levels?
Really, it's a serious question. Maybe if you explain your goals, hopes, and dreams for this board with will understand where you are coming from.

Who's vast conspiracy? Not mine.

We have NOT beaten MSU "seven out of nine". At the university level accuracy is important. We have beaten them six out eight times in recent years. I believe that as the topic is about long run parity, the fact that MSU beat us 17 times in a row before Mason does play into the equation as well. Let's just stick to actual way things were in the past.

I did write the correct six out of eight in my first post. This is the second time in three days that our recent wins have been over stated. I made no claim whatsoever regarding vast conspiracies as suggested by GoAUpher. No diatribes that I can see. Nonetheless, our long term record against MSU is very poor. I do not believe we have ever lost more than 17 games in a row to any team. I think all university students and grads should aspire to accuracy. How else can we understand the realities we face? Just make them up as we go?

You want my long term goals for the program? OK, I want the program to win more games honestly over time. That's two and that is about it.

ummm.....

Versus cheating and changing the score when nobody is looking?
How does this answer the question about the board. Do you think you negativity helps the team win more?

What office do you hold or have run for? Last time I heard an answer of this type was the last time I questioned a mayor. You made no attempt to answer the questions, but answered one unasked.
Care to answer the question? In case you forgot, I will restate it.
1. In what way do you think this helps to raise the discourse on this board to new levels?

2. Not a question, but a suggestion. Maybe if you explain your goals, hopes, and dreams for this board with will understand where you are coming from.

when you are wrong, you just dive right in don't you?

Correction of mistake: "We have beaten them six out eight times in recent years."

Diatribe (part one):"Why do you guys just make up things whenever you want? Since Michigan State joined the Big Ten in the early 1950's they have been one of our hardest teams to beat. As recently as 1997 we were 11-23 against MSU. The previous coach beat them five times and this coach beat them last year. That's it! We have won six of our last seven meetings, not seven out of eight. Indeed, until Mason beat them in 1998 (5-3 against MSU)we had lost 17 games in a row to MSU!!!"

Diatribe (part two):"I believe that as the topic is about long run parity, the fact that MSU beat us 17 times in a row before Mason does play into the equation as well. Let's just stick to actual way things were in the past."

Let's just let this one die.

To quote you, re3886: "In what way do you think this helps to raise the discourse on this board to new levels?" I want you to understand that I'm not trying to rip on you, but this does not raise the discourse in any way shape or form.

Wow, not exacatly the Bataan Death March, is it?

Been that way ever since the new scheduling!

Guaranteed NW, Ill. and IU!!

In good years, Beating one of the big two, OSU or PSU, puts them in good shape to make a run at a division title. Example; beating PSU and the little three, having OSU lose to Mich and PSU, and still losing to OSU, all the have to do is win the crossover game, which could easily be the "U". Not exactly a huge reach.

except for...

The idea that a honest answer could clear up the thought processes and keep every thread he posts on from turning into this degeneration. It not like has been on here that long. or has he?

How can we have a fruitful discussion if the facts used in the original point are inaccurate? If correcting inaccuracies is going to cause a riot, what can I do to prevent it? I repeat my original point, we have only defeated MSU in 6 of our last 25 tries.

Loon has been here under at least a dozen different monikers. "Gopherhurrin" is just the newest incarnation.
