MN Daily: With this schedule, there is a strong chance the Gophers’ best-case scenario is going 8-4, but the team has the potential to fall to 7-5

I think 10-2 is doable. If Lindsey makes the next step and WR's improve this offense could be impressive. Need to be able to run the football. Hope we can figure that out we have talent on the line and in the RB room. Penn State looks more like Iowa State. Michgan is still Michigan but with the off-season issues you never know. I say 8-4 should be the floor.

Title of the thread is a little off...

"strong chance the Gophers' best-case scenario is going 8-4, but the team has the potential to fall to 7-5..."

A 1 game W-L difference is really not falling.

If want to stick with these "predictions," then probably better reads: "...strong chance the Gophers best-case scenario is going 8-4, but the team has the potential to trip to 7-5..."

Similar to Drew Wolitarski here...

Lose QB for season week 1 or 2 and 2-10 probably on the table.
I think this team goes 2-10 without a QB though.

I like your takes Some Guy, but I am not worried if Drake goes down... I don't want him to, btw.

What I saw of Shikenjanski last year showed me he is capable and a worthy B10 backup and if he can't do it Lansu will show that he is up to playing at this level.

No, right now I fear losing DT or AJ more than anyone else.

I am not predicting 2-10 if he went down, I’m saying it’s possible. If he is healthy, I do not think 2-10 or 3-9 could happen. 0%
If he was lost for season in camp, 2-10 is >0%

PK Fleck special: 7-5 with a loss in a game you should not have lost.

Which means they beat someone that was a tossup/slight underdog as well, but then lost to someone they shouldn't have lost to, preventing it from being a step change better season.

Like it or not, 8-4 is a step change better than 7-5, particularly in bowl game it gets you.

Yep, sets up for a total 9-win season. Has a nice sound to it on this fine June day...

When it used to be that the main way you got a kid to come to your program was to be a great salesman, because all a school could offer was a scholarship .... that's when PJ Fleck had an edge. With his used car salesman skills and all his mumbo-jumbo culture stuff.

But now, what matters is how much money you can offer. Fleck's edge is gone.

He makes crappy in-game decisions. He makes crappy hiring decisions. I don't see him ever substantially overcoming those things, now that he no longer has the edge that made him special at Western Michigan.

Another 7-5 and I'm ready to give someone else a try.

They might be worse, but you can't do better if you don't try.
