per the Daily:
Johnson graduated and transferred from Western Michigan following the 2019-20 season. He played three seasons for the Broncos while missing what would have been his junior year due to an injury.
“He needs to be ready, physically and mentally, to step in right away. It’s not as easy as anybody thinks to jump up a level,” Pitino said.
In his three seasons at Western Michigan, Johnson averaged 10.9 points per game and had his best season last year when he averaged 15.4 points per game, playing in 32 games. Year after year, his playing time has increased, as have his points and rebounds per game.
“He’s got the size, he’s got the skill, he’s tough, he’s willing to work. He wants it bad, and he’s got a great opportunity in front of him, and I think he’ll be ready to go,” Pitino said.
