per the Daily:

Minnesota’s secondary may go from being overlooked to one of the more respected groups in the country. “We’ll handle [the recognition] great, because we’re optimistic and we really look at our negatives and what we need to clean up,” Boddy-Calhoun said. “Guys are always coaching each other up and looking for ways to get better.”

While Boddy-Calhoun is known for making big plays, the rest of Minnesota’s likely starters in the defensive backfield bring plenty to the table. Murray was the
Gophers’ lockdown cornerback for the past two seasons, Travis is a hard hitter and Johnson has been a regular starter since his sophomore year.

With Brock Vereen already in the NFL playing for the Chicago Bears and former safety Cedric Thompson likely headed toward an NFL career after a strong Pro Day, it looks like multiple current Gophers defensive backs will play at the next level as well.

A positive puff piece where they got the names of the players and coaches right sure beats the typical negative crap with snide remarks, backhanded compliments and incorrect info.

Could be the big ten's best?

Trae Waynes from the Milwaukee/Metro was special at cb for Michigan st and wil be a top 10 draft pick. Drummond at safety was overrated and the kid playing opposite of Trae wasnt very good. Minnesota had a better overall secondary than Mich st last yr. The Gopher secondary was 2nd only to Ohio st and thats a maybe. Gopher secondary will be the best this yr but as Spoofin pointed out not earth shattering news.

The best CBs for sure, IMO. BBC is incredible, and likely not as good as EM31. Teams won't even throw at Murray most games - Hell, ML7 won't even throw at him in practice. Our Safeties are also top notch and from what I have seen Ace Fits right in. If the reports of our DL improving and the depth at LB are true - this D may be something we haven't seen before around here. Is it August yet?

Murray and BBC have got to be top 3 CB tandems in the B1G. My maroon and gold colored glasses would say #1.

Most with non maroon and gold classes would still say it is the CB #1 tandem in the Big Ten. I have a feeling that most writers from BTN.com, ESPN.com's Big Ten blog and bleacher report will probably rank as the second best secondary with OSU #1. I don't see them having the balls to put us at #1 although I think we are. MSU and OSU had and will have much better pass rushers than us too but with how Hank Ekpe is playing, hopefully the gap can be narrowed.

Coach Kill said on KFAN he thinks at least 2 from secondary will be drafted into NFL. That was months ago.

I agree. If our D line improves with the young guys which played last year.. we could have something special.

Developing a reputation of developing & producing NFL defensive secondary players (and hopefully defensive line too) can only help Gopher Recruiting long term.
