Let’s start with a disclaimer: All these coaches are very safe for the timing being. Penn State won 11 games last season for the third time in four years. But expectations are high in Happy Valley, and Franklin has made some questionable on-field decisions. Plus, the Nittany Lions are 0-4 this season. Fleck could always wear out his welcome, and the Gophers have not built on last year’s breakthrough season, starting 1-3. Brohm, in his fourths season, is 19-22 at Purdue.

Fleck on the hot seat. Yep.

Allen should be in the frigid section. He has Indiana ranked in the top 10 and has beaten Penn State and Michigan. At a place like Indiana in football there is zero chance they would even fathom firing him. Plus from everything I have seen he seems to be well liked.

Fleck should be in the cold section. This year is disappointing but last year was so good he has earned a ton of rope going forward.
