Miss the Mason years

Winning our non-conf games and winning the music city/sun bowl sounds awfully good right now. These 1/2/3 win seasons are testing the resolve of even the most hardy gopher football fans.

Have you forgot the Michigan game and the Grinster's final against Texas Tech? If Mason was such a hot comodity he certainly would have got tOSU job over Tressel. Nobody came calling when he was fired at Minnesota. The Grinster is right where he should be, doing a great job on the BTN,
chomping on 40.00 cigars and having his favorite martini ( James Bond) at the end of the day. Coach Kill is not the type to pat himself on the back if he gets in the Music City Bowl. If health issues don't take him down I expect he will get us in a BCS New Years game.

We're panicking 2 games in with a team that finished 3-9 last year? Really?

The days of instant gratification have arrived... :horse:

I never said anything about hanging on to Mason. I simply said, 7-5 and a bowl game doesn't look so bad right now. These comments are being taken way out of context. As for the instant gratification comment, I am struggling to understand what you mean there. It is not asking too much to beat a team that hasn't gotten a victory over a BCS team in over 10 years. It's downright pathetic. It shouldn't be one of our goals to beat a "cream-puff" at home. It should be expected, yet year after year, we leave the stadium in a daze over what we have just seen. I would like to see where all of the "star ranking" people are. Tell me we don't have more talent and "star" caliber players on our roster than NMSU, SDSU, NDSU. They simply outplay us.

One might wonder, Stocker08, what someone could means by 50 years without a Big Ten title and labeling someone asking for it as "instant gratification". What a joke. I have never argued that it was time to try something different when we let Mase go, but he still was the best coach I've seen since Warmath (and he was before my time). Meaning I've only seen the stinkers. We took a chance, a chance many of us thought it was time to take. It failed miserably. Now we've taken another chance that may or may not work out. Kill isn't going to be judged by the bums who came before him. He's going to get the same chance to do something. But until someone comes along and is at least Mason good, he's the pinacle of coaching in the last 50 years.
