Auburn terminates Stephanie White's fourth consecutive mediocre Vanderbilt season. The Commodores finish 4-12 in conference and 14-16 overall. Vandy led by one at half time 35-34.

A 1-17 Pittsburgh team ends Notre Dame's 24 year NCAA streak on a shot with 3 seconds remaining. Now back to Minnesota facing a 1-17 team.

At least we know that in Muffet McGraw there is at least 1 coach in NCAAA WBB worse than Whalen.

Wow ! Muffet McGraw with a 905-272 record over 32 seasons. She has lead them to 9 final fours, 7 championship games and has 2 Natty 's. ND has really struggled this year with starting multiple freshman but your definition of a bad coach is off the mark. No doubt they both have had a brutal season this year. Too early to know if Whalen will be successful here.

To illuminate the situation a bit, Notre Dame ends the season with an 8-10 ACC conference record and a 13-18 overall record for an RPI of 114 and an SoS of 30. They were stuck in a similar boat as us, needing to win the SEC Tournament to move on to the NCAAs. They didn't move on - a fairly historic event, yet that's what happens when you graduate all five starting Seniors into the WNBA last year.

Minnesota had a 5-13 Big-Ten record (now 6-13) and a (now) 16-14 overall record for an RPI of 88 and an SoS of 32. Our dreams of Dancing are still alive.

She definitely has more talent to work with than Whalen this year. How many McDonald’s All Americans are on each team? Of course, they’re hurting for experience.

Just checked - looks like ND has 4 McDonald's All Americans, plus another 3 that were nominees but not selected. Paige Buecker's buddy Sam Brunelle (from Team USA) also won the 3-point contest at the actual All-America game. Taiye handled her fairly well in our early-season game with Notre Dame, but Sam started putting up 25 points in some later-season games. ND will be a force again soon.

Destiny Pitts was a McDonalds All American nominee. Not sure if she won. From last-year's roster entry, looks like not (she was purged from this years roster).

Minnesota has never had a McDonald's All American. (Banham just missed)

Arkansas downed two free throws taking the lead with 8.6 seconds remaining to defeat Texas A&M. It was their only lead in a game where they once trailed by 17.

Boston College creeps closer to the NCAA Tournament after defeating Duke 84-77 in the ACC tournament.

Jaidah Stewart, a member of the Gopher class that didn't arrive, just scored on a little running hook for Lisa Stone's St. Louis team in their A10 tourney matchup with Shauna Green's Dayton club.

Stewart became eligible at the semester break. She comes off the bench and is averaging 12.5 minutes and 5.5 points in league play. She seems to be an excellent three point shooter 15-32 (.469) from behind the arc.

Flordia State out lasts Louisville 62-60 to advance to the ACC championship game.

I've never heard of any of these Boston College players but they're fun to watch against Bowl Cut's team.

It must have been a drought year for All Americans.

Turned out that Liz liked track and field more than she liked basketball.

Liz has enjoyed a stellar high school career. She has led Lakeville High School to three consecutive state titles. She has surpassed the 2,000-point and 1,000-rebound marks with a career average of 17.1 and 10.5 respectively. Liz was the Minnesota AP Player of the Year in her junior and senior seasons. She is also a three-time Coaches Association All-State Player and four-time All Lake Conference Player of the Year. Liz is known for her intense defense and toughness around the basket. Liz also excels for the Track and Field team as she is a two-time defending champion in the shot put. Liz will continue her basketball career in her home state at the University of Minnesota.

Dayton outlasted VCU to win the A10. Last season, Beth O'Boyle's (who replaced Stollings) crew lost to Fordham in the A10 championship game.

Marquette defeated St. Johns setting up a most interesting Big East Championship game between DePaul and Megan Duffy's Golden Eagles. Marquette defeated DePaul to end the regular season. Should be a fun one to watch.

Not a tourney game, but Iowa State just beat Baylor. Quite the upset.
