Minnesota Wild vs Colorado Avalanche Series Thread

Such bad hockey from the Wild tonight. Last change with a new goalie and you basically don’t challenge him for 45 minutes of the game. Also that statue for Boldy can be put on hold. He’s been coasting again all series. One goal, empty netter, and maybe 11 shots on goal this series. Gentlemen’s sweep by the best team in hockey.

Boo. Not enough energy until the third period. Avalanche really controlled the game from the beginning despite the early PP goal.

When the bottom 6 outplay your top 6 it usually doesn’t turn out good

Also making $17million next year the Russian better wake the F up cause he coasts way too much to.

I’m afraid this was their best shot at a cup too.
Next year will be tough to put a team on the ice with the cap issues

With Kaprizov’s $17 million and their ufa’s it leaves the Wild with $10 million to replace 7 players.
Their going to need some young guns and some guys taking big cuts in salary

I’d say the 18 million not playing right now plays a factor there between Brodin Ek and Gus. This lineup is highly competitive with Colorado if you add some sort of a high end center (it’s glaring how badly they’re killing us down the middle right now; no one can check any of their guys in the center of the ice)

#2 in playoff points
#2 in playoff +/-
Yeah I get what you’re saying and think people are way too directly focused on KK. Colorado is better than we are and can blanket him with numerous players followed by us having next to no other consistent threats elsewhere in the lineup besides Hughes and Boldy.

Colorado gave up the fewest goals in the league pretty handily and it’s not because their goalies are crazy. They can lock it down

Yeah, KK is not in the top 10 reasons we lose this series.

If you wanna boil it down to simplistic reasons, last night's game was lost with a stupid chase behind the net on the PK, a terribly misplayed puck by Wally behind the net when we should've had full control and two very careless clearing attempts by our bottom pair defense.

the game was lost because they outplayed us, were vastly harder on pucks consistently throughout the game, and are a better team. I know you're mentioning the goals specifically, but hell we could pick on a lot more plays that could've ended up in the back of the net but didn't due to Wally making some really big saves.

We easily could've been down 3 or 4 by the middle of the second period. Hynes was pretty blunt about it in the presser that the team seemed to make a choice to not do the hard things last night and were an overall no show. Unacceptable at this time of year.

Hands are the first to go and that 40 yr old has lost it. Design the plays at that guy and don’t let up.

He's been great for 9 games, had 1 bad.

Boldy was worse last night. -3 and 1 shot on goal in 24 minutes as well.
I won’t go great for 9.

Yes, Boldy was unplayable last night.

They go very excited with their win Saturday and acres like last night was a Monday in November not the playoffs.

Hockey gurus… clue me in.. Brock Nelson not impressed..plays soft with no physicality it’s the playoffs? Selke is that for a forward who plays nice? Best hit was on Hughes after the whistle have not noticed him on O either.. clue me in.. does he have a good playoff resume? Thanks

Brock Nelson is not a hitter (though he absolutely demolished I believe Hartman earlier in the series). His goal Corsi and Fenwick are around 60%, which is extremely good. He's their best penalty killer on the team that led the league.

He's a puck possession/risk reducer kind of guy not a physical presence guy

Selke winners generally are good defenders with low PMs, not guys who throw the most hits. Forward who demonstrates most defensive skill, not physical presence.

The gap in overall talent between the Wild and Avs was on full display last night.

2nd period on was dominated by the Avs.
When a team goes nearly 20 minutes without a shot on net you know they are out talented

Is tonight the Wilds last game? I’d say 80% it is. Wally will need to steal one

Colorado is just better than we are but think the first 10 min are probably going to tell the tale. Not so much if they have the lead or not but if they have the forecheck going and slow the Avs in the neutral zone. Feels like one that is going to be tight unless we get the doors blown off early.

Tonight won't be the last game. Colorado suck at home in closed out games. Last time they won a closed out game at home was 2008 vs Minnesota.
