Not sure if anyone has been paying attention....but the United cruised through their first playoff game against Colorado, winning their first ever playoff game 3-0. They are currently in the 50' minute against the first seeded Sporting KC and they are once again up 3-0!

Looks like they'll be headed to the conference finals on Monday the 7th against 2nd seeded Seattle.
 

They are a different group with Reynoso out there. He is the playmaker they've been missing.

And to think, as the TV crew pointed out - the Loons have played the entire season without the reigning MLS defensive player of the year in Ike Opara, who has missed the season with a mystery medical condition. Not to mention the fact that they had the Goalkeeper of the year last year, and couldn't work out a new contract, so Vito went back to Europe.

It may have been paused.

Dibassy with a header in the 67th minute to give the Loons a 2-0 lead!

Approximately 20 minutes from the Cup finals.
 


So far in the playoffs the United have outscored their opponents (which include both the first and second seeds in the West) 8-0. Dominant.
 

Sounders got their first. Approximately 12 minutes remaining plus stoppage time.
 

Shit...2-2 tie going into stoppage.

Not even teams that no one cares about can get away from the Minnesota sports curse.
 

I’ll have to stew on this for a bit, but that might top any of Minnesota Sports previous collapses. Unbelievable. Up 2-0 in the 74’ and didn’t even get to extra time.

Badly outplayed the whole game. What was the final shots on goal difference? Huge
 

Tough to play soccer with two hands around your neck.Just abysmal ball control the entire second half. No sustained pressure and poor counter attacks.
 




Playing nothing but defense for 20 straight minutes to end the game....hoping that the clock would run out is a terrible gameplan.

Not if you can play D like Liverpool. Poor communication on D all night.
 




Good season. The loss last night was a gut punch, but the better team won.

The Loons need to part ways with Lod and Finlay. They need players at those positions who can break down a defense with speed/dribbling or both. Neither of them can do that, and neither is a good fit at forward on a top tier team. Maybe Amarilla is one of those guys when healthy. With Reynoso, having a top notch finisher is critical. We'd put a lot of pressure on teams with a good combination.

The Loons also need to figure out what they want to do with Chacon. Either sh!t or get off of the pot. They need that designated player position to be a difference maker in the starting 11. If the Loons had one more top notch designated player on the pitch last night, they would have beat Seattle.

losing the last game in that fashion stinks. But, if you compare the Loons today to where they were 4 years ago, the team has made some huge strides.

yes, the roster still has room for improvement. If they can add another piece or two, the Loons could make a real title run next year.

I guess if they're attacking 5x more often as us, but their cross setup kicks don't count as a "shot", then we can just pretend we didn't get badly outplayed.

Yep! With my partner who played soccer in high school. Confirms that they were badly outplayed and Seattle was attacking way more often than we were. Was only a matter of time.

I'd love to know about Opara as well. He would have helped.
 

Well Columbus zipped Seattle in the Cup Final, 3-0. Happy for them. Also makes me feel slightly better about the loss.

LOL, I thought the same thing. Though to be fair, I may be the curse. I have been around for all the failures and I turned to the Loons game with them leading and having a shutout. In the next 10 minutes the Loons had given up 3 goals and lost.

To you diehards, I am sorry for bringing the curse by watching. I will try not to watch again. 😉😏
 

In case anyone is paying attention.....the Loons got a huge win, 2-1 last night over top seeded Sporting KC. With one game remaining.....the game against the Galaxy next Sunday is probably a play-in game.
 

If the Loons want to make a run, they have to find a way to score more goals. The defense is OK and Miller has been solid at GK, but they just miss way too many good chances. Hounou has been a disappointment for what they're paying him.
 

Abila was horrible. Hunou is mediocre.

They need 2 legit forwards and possibly another central MF.
