Minnesota now in Andre Hollins' top 5

"Ahanmisi has some learning to do. Coaches will help him learn."

FOT is right! This kid is coming to the U with hopes of improving his game and being a contributing teamate. Most of you guys write as though you would like to have him drawn-and- quartered because he dares to exist without having asked for or gotten your permission. These are 17-19 year old kids that are still trying to define themselves in this world. They have a dedicated coaching staff that is trying to help them improve themselves. Please give the process a chance before you self-rightiously deminish their humanity in your thoughts and words.

Jacob Thomas is great and all, but whether he scores 1 point or 100 points if his grades don't get him into the U, it is irrelevant.

Do we actually know if his grades/act score would not have been good enough to get into the U? He was never offered so I would assume he never applied or tried to get accepted.

(that Jacob Thomas lacked). Minnesota got Austin Hollins instead of Thomas. Gophers got the better player of those 2, I think.

Considering we just picked up Chip, we could have offered Hollins and Thomas.

The GH poster JohnnyGopher posted something like that a month or so back.

no we couldnt have, 1. thomas had already signed after we got hollins, 2. the scholly we wouldve given thomas didnt become availible until after he commtitted. This worries me for the 2011 class though when we couldve had 2 4 stars, and 1 solid 3 star, now we can get 2 of those players

We could have offered Thomas long before he signed. You can 'offer' more to players than sponsorships available.

thats not the point, we weren't desperate for him until now, we didnt want any acedemic or personal problems on the team, but now he seems like a missed oppurtunity

I'd say we missed a 2 if not 3 Minnesota kids this year.

What's past is past.

ill admit i wanted JT, but Noreen never. He wont be a diferencemaker there or here

You're silly! Most of the 2010 class are players that won't be difference makers. Hollins and Walker. Don't say Oto becasue he's not here. Noreen would've been better then any of the other recruits. Plus he had a 4.0 and a perfect ACT score. Why would the Gophers pass?

Don't let posters talk you into wanting Thomas. Keep being a Tubby apologist. He made a mistake. Don't talk about attitude or grades because he just recruited Rodney (grades) and Royce (attitude) the year before.

i dont know who you cheer for but its not the gophers, and you really love the Noreens, are you their dad or something? I think for myself, thank you much.

Gopher Warrior - Thank you for the web site "An article Some May Enjoy". I did enjoy the article and the "fresh look" that was given to why players cannot be "pigeon-holed" and why some "no-star" players turn out to be great players. I have read some of the negative posts about the incoming players and frankly feel sorry for them ( both the players and the posters) that the players have already been "pigeon-holed" without any chance to play in a system that will offer them a chance to succeed. At this point I like the multiple "scorers" and the "handlers" and the "rebounders" that are going to be on our team. I also like the emphasis that has been given to speed on defense. I do hope that Oto can join the team in the beginning of the season. I think he is a valuable "swing" piece as he is a "scorer" who with his size can create havoc for the other team's D3 or perhaps D4. Thanks for the good post, G-W.

I absolutely DO cheer for the Gophers. I go to about 8 games a year. But I'm not going to give out false claims. Why does my commenting on KEVIN Noreen being a better recruit then 3 out of 5 of our recruits mean I really love them or I'm there dad? I love Jacob Thomas too. Does that mean I'm his dad? I base my opinion Kevin being a Gopher on the fact that he's now at a final four school after he de-committed to a Big East school. Say what you want about MTS, he still had a good showing with Pump & Run during the AAU season last year. And reading another post it doesn't sound like the Pump program is too happy about the bypassing Kevin. With them competing with Pulley for our top players it doesn't sit well trying to work with the as alias to support the program. Plain and simple I'm a frustrated fan that's not going to say everything is good with the program right now. We don't have a single recruit right now for 2011. We lost Jasperson, Coleman, Tharpe and Ogelsby are not locks, and IMO we should be pushing harder for Ross Travis. If you want to think that everything is fine go right ahead. I'll give credit when credit is do.

youre right, BT tourement runner ups, 3 20 win seasons and back to back tourneys isn't credit worthy. everythinng is peachy

Gophers last had 20 (or more) W in 3 straight seasons back in, when was it, oh yeah. NEVER.

But 21 W average and middle of the pack Big 10 finishes are not acceptable goals.

25+ W and Top 3 in Big 10 are more like it.

Is there a glitch in the system that makes the last post of every thread say "Friend of Tubby?" Or is he just online and posting worthless/annoying replys 24/7?

Noreen made an excellent choice. Huggins has done well in the past with underrated big F who can shoot. He'll have to work on strength and conditioning but if he does, he'll be a starter in 2-3 years.

What do you mean?

Do we actually know if his grades/act score would not have been good enough to get into the U? He was never offered so I would assume he never applied or tried to get accepted.

His grades may have been a deterrent for Tubby to offer him, but unless you know it to be 100% FACT that he did not qualify or got rejected admission, GH's should not be saying he didn't have the grades to play at the UofM.

So far he doesn't have the grades to play at Long Beach St, either. He hasn't been cleared by NCAA yet.

I've been very impressed with Thomas too. I actually spoke to him last week, and he had told me he had been cleared by the NCAA and was ready to play.

I heard last night at the HP league that he has qualified but was too late to get into summer school. He will be starting school at Long Beach State fall semester.

Jacob is still confident he will be good to go at LBSU so who knows, nobody thought Rodney had a chance to qualify either but I don't think Jake had a chance to get into MN which is why he wasn't recruited very hard.

It is 100% factual that he hasn't passed the NCAA clearinghouse yet.

So is it also 100% FACT that he did not qualify or got rejected admission to the University of Minnesota? Answer: NO.

If it's a fact provide your source.

Read what I typed, please. It's 100% factual that he has not YET been passed by NCAA clearinghouse to play Div I basketball anywhere next season.
