Taking the pooch for a walk tonight, and I may have been one of 163 people listening to Mike Max. He was talking about Gopher athletics, Tracy Claeys, and the groundbreaking ceremony that went on today.

Max went on to say that the new facilities will never match the top end Big 10 programs, but at least puts the Gophers in a competetive mode. He mentioned the irony of both Kill and Teague not being there today.

Not sure how it happened, but Max threw out a real teaser. He said that folks will remember sometime in the future and think, "Oh, that's what Mike Max was talking about." He went on to say, "If you think the turmoil at the University of Minnesota is now over, you've got another thing coming. I know for a fact, turmoil is coming. It's not if, but when."

So, not sure what to think about this. Title IX bombshell? More to the harrassment story? More to the Kill story?

Anyone else happen to hear this that has a different take?

Who's Mike Max? jk... I remember listening to him guarantee the gophers would never get a stadium of their own... he's never right, only likes throwing stuff. Against the wall to create controversy.

Dark Star had a story about Danny Valencia with the Twins that he said would ruin him, but he wasn't going to tell it until Danny was out of baseball. Then, he croaked. I have a feeling I'll hear that story before this comes to light.

Either he knows of something which will cause turmoil, but isn't telling us, or he doesn't actually know. If he actually knew something, he'd be reporting it.

Yeah, because media in 2015 hold stories and make sure everything lines up before publishing.

How was his lisp tonight?

I'm not sure Sid was Voelz's type so that definitely would be a shock.

I grew up with the Max family and they are good people. You can dislike his program but no need to be so snarky about someone you do not know. He grew up a Gopher fan and I would not completely dismiss the fact that he might know some information about the U. That being said I hope he is wrong.

Don't think he is a gopher fan now.

Who is being snarky? It was an attempt at humor. That's why the smiley/sarcastic face was attached.

Quit being so defensive.

I've seen him at the EP mall on a bench, maybe that's where he picks up the rumors...

I remember him Asa cub reporter for KCMT TV ch 7 in Alexandria. My family would drink whenever he blinked. We shared a beer, and never finished it.

I actually want to know the Valencia story. If Max is sitting on a story, well, he probably should hand back his paycheck.

So tell me, why would Claeys want the HC job if he knew that there was a major chance that the UM could be hamstrung with NCAA sanctions or other negatives that would make recruiting and his job even more difficult? Being a interim versus the HC are two totally different situations.

Minnesota is not a Penn State when it comes to over coming these potential obstacles. My guess that he is in the loop with these things and is a smart man. Maybe the same with Goetz.

Any of us could say that at any time and be right. It's Gopher sports after all. The curse of Gangelhoff never rests.

The one thing could be that, the son does not escape the sins of the father so to speak, in reference to the Louisville basketball investigation. Sheer speculation on my part but certainly plausible.

Oh boy, break out the popcorn for that one!

But if we were up to that you'd think we'd get better players or something......

I would bet with absolute certainty that it is Pitino related. Anybody who believes that Rick Pitino did not know that there were hookers and strippers in the dorm is living in a deep dark cave somewhere on the other side of the planet. It is going to get ugly before it is over and little Richie was on staff during part of it. My bet is there is a very good chance that his name will also become a part of this. With the problems that have existed in the athletic department regarding the sexual harassment and the treatment of women and the AD who hired him long gone, my bet is they will be looking for a new men's basketball coach this spring also. Just sayin'

Now the only thing we know is this, but this has me worried that it could be huge. I hope that he just said this for views and nothing will happen.

When was that? And where were you living?

ESPN and every other sports news outlet have not been able to make anything stick to Rick in the Louisville mess,so how the he** could Mike Max know anything that would tie Richard to it ?

Does anyone think the sexual allegations involving football players last year could be a problem? Just wondering what others think cause I have no clue.

I'm with Studwell on this suggesting there's more to the story. Also, I noticed that the thing Coach Kill focused on mostly during his last presser was "not cheating the University". He mentioned that 3 or more times, when nobody I know of ever hinted at that. Why did he emphasize that?

Also, Kill mentioned that he wasn't thinking clearly. I wonder if he feels he made a few poor decisions recently that he regrets. The Croft decision was particularly odd to me. Kill has his players best interests at heart yet the decision re: Croft will not benefit Demry.

I will miss Kill a lot and have difficulty envisioning Tracy being able to fill his shoes as the face of the program. I think Tracy will be a great coach, but fear he'll fall short in other roles. This whole thing stinks and I feel very sad and empty and scared about the future of Gopher football and basketball.

Teague turned out to be so, so bad. It's a real tarnish on the administration. He was like a 15 year old pervert in an incredibly important position. How could this happen?

So the hookers and strippers will cause no problems at Louisville but will cause turmoil here? Not likely.

How could a son be expected to deal with the sins of a father? Very bizarre take on your part.
