This video isn't a great reason not to hire Leach, but it damn sure doesn't make me excited about him. This sounds like a childish rant, and smells of the condescending attitude of a guy who never got the hot chicks. I know the guy knows some football, but I'm not sure he would be respected. Then again, wins can change everything.

Leach was telling his kids to check their egos at the door, work harder and play football as a team. This was not about some guy that didn't get dates in high school.
 

College football isn't about stopping teams and playing defense. It's about scoring points and stopping the other team 1 or 2 times late. There just aren't dominating defenses in college football. Too much emphasis on offense, that's what brings in the fans. Bob Stoops is a great defensive mind and his teams get scored on quite a bit.

Bobby Knight was a pretty damn good coach too.

Leach seems like the anti-Brew...not afraid to be negative and call out his players (unlike constantly discussing how great and tremendous they are)

I say sign him up!

I can just hear the WCCO sports announcer commenting on the "girlfriend" video. Don Shelby would come out of retirement to do an editorial. Half the University would be boycotting games and demanding his firing. It would be an unmitigated disaster.

I'll take a Harbaugh, a Shannon, a Hoke, a Kill, any winner that even if he uses foul language (as most do), at least keep their cool in public. I'd like someone who's going to unite us, not split us into ProLeach or AgainstLeach camps. This man evokes strong opinions one way or the other, he's not a uniter.

I don't agree that the University would boycott him and demand his firing. Maybe those guys who played poorly all had fat short girlfriends? Most likely it was a psychological ploy by Leach to get them to minimize the importance of girls and groupies, and to get their focus back on football. Part of Leach's brilliance is his effective use of psychology.

Maybe if the PC liberal MN fans would actually check their tighty-whitey panties and make sure they weren't riding up their arse Leach wouldn't 'divide' the U.

Leach wouldn't split us at all. Only the tightwads would. As long as he does the coaching by the book, I don't care HOW we win. Just that we do. People need to check their egos, seriously.

Plus, there is not a coach out there that fan base would stand behind 100%. Last I checked, 87% of the people that voted on the Strib site believed he should get an interview. I'm shocked and pleased with how many people support Leach. Just wait till Edsall is named the coach for the divide among Gopher fans.

Right. The REAL division in our fanbase will come with a wishy-washy guy, Like Edsall, Trestman, or any other lower than B tier coach.
