Mike Leach has to be the coach

I hate the weekend. Has anyone heard any updates? Rumors? Brilliant insights?

Come on, I've been refreshing a dozen different sites constantly.

They thought Tim Brewster had to be the one too.

Who's they? Delusional idiots? Maturi? Brewster was going to fail, from day one, there was no question about it he had ZERO business being a head coach. based on what? recruiting for mac brown. GTFO with this nonsense.

Well quit, this incompetent AD is going to bring in some clown with minnesota ties that shouldn't be a head coach and will have had little to no success before. Can almost guarantee Maturi will screw this up.

They blew out FAU and Bowling Green in 2008. That is still an awful long drought.

Wow.. I don't remember that at ALL. Well, I take that back. I know the final score said they blew out BG.. but wasn't the game a close one until sometime in the 4th quarter? I guess a blow out is a blow out.

And for some reason I thought we struggled against FAU, but that may have been another game..

minus 1 from me.

He had annual flirtations with other teams during his entire tenure at Lubbock.
The administration could not wait to get rid of him and they were fortunate enough for him to give them an excuse to do so by locking a player in a storage closet.

No thanks.

did he sign a long term contract with tech though?????????????? YES HE DID!

I love the thought of Leach, and have done everything in my power to promote him, but was told today to focus my energies elsewhere. I am not 'connected' so to speak but the perdon in the athletic dept that I do know said it aint happening. But I want LEACH!!!

Who was I referring to as they? Anyone who was involved with hiring Brewster and my point to the comment was I don't have much faith in the current regime in hiring anyone that is going to do any good.

Haha! You make some good points, but forgive me if I giggled at this... the first thing I imagined was Johnny Cochran patrolling the sidelines at USC!

Anybody who know me

Never takes me too seriously. There is always mischief about what I do.

I think Leach is considered too much of a lose cannon for the U. After the Haskins incident the U doesn't want to get anyone who could give them a black eye. I think Leach would be a good coach but I think this selection is too much on the edge for the U.

Someone start the website: hiremikeleach.com or hirepirate.com. Students wear pirate customs next week and send Joel the message.

I have a feeling all the folks on the Leach bandwagon (or is it the Leach frigate?) will be disappointed come hiring day because our admin won't put a guy that's that rough around the edges as our FB coach.

I know what you are saying but Clem was on a whole different level.

Personally, I like the idea of Leach more than Leach himself. I just wanna make sure the U is looking for a proven winner,a big name and some one the fans would recognize. If we put pressure on the powers that be to hire him, it shows just how much we want a winner as a fanbase. As long as the U hires someone at or above the level of a Mike Leach, I will be happy.

I'm moving Leach to the head of my coaching board. Leach's Legion coming 2011.

I don't think it will happen with the namsie pamsie admin, boosters, and media we have here in Minnesota.. But Leach is #1 on my list as well, and I will be disappointed by default if/when he isn't hired.

But that disappointment will go away if we get another solid coach.

I'm going to will this thing to happen. Maybe a moonlight vigil will help.

Leach worries me for a couple of different reasons but I do think his loose canon, don't take *$^&@ from anyone attitude might just be what is needed to turn this thing around.

Email campaign! Come on people let's get this going!

It's hard to imagine someone with Leach's personality being placed in charge of a Big 10 program. This isn't the Southwestern Conference.

I'm not a fan of Leach for the U. I don't think the Air Raid will work in the Big Ten and without Texas as home state recruiting I don't think he'll get the athletes he needs for it to work. Plus his defenses have always been a liability. I would personally love to see us hire Venables and bring a defense first mindset to the team. Not sure he would take the job though.

That is why he also set SEC offensive records recruiting the high school football hotbed of Kentucky.
