They thought Tim Brewster had to be the one too.
Come on, I've been refreshing a dozen different sites constantly.
They blew out FAU and Bowling Green in 2008. That is still an awful long drought.
minus 1 from me.
He had annual flirtations with other teams during his entire tenure at Lubbock.
The administration could not wait to get rid of him and they were fortunate enough for him to give them an excuse to do so by locking a player in a storage closet.
No thanks.
Who's they? Delusional idiots? Maturi? Brewster was going to fail, from day one, there was no question about it he had ZERO business being a head coach. based on what? recruiting for mac brown. GTFO with this nonsense.
Well quit, this incompetent AD is going to bring in some clown with minnesota ties that shouldn't be a head coach and will have had little to no success before. Can almost guarantee Maturi will screw this up.
1) Greedy for victories
2) Take no prisoners
3) Competent negotiator
4) Generally intelligent
5) Distasteful but necessary
6) Always looking for the loophole
In football that translates to
1) Greedy for victories
2) Smash mouth football
3) Competent recruiter
4) Above average x's and o's
5) Will run a good program
6) Will find ways to win games
Haha! You make some good points, but forgive me if I giggled at this... the first thing I imagined was Johnny Cochran patrolling the sidelines at USC!
I think Leach would be a good coach but I think this selection is too much on the edge for the U.
I think Leach is considered too much of a lose cannon for the U. After the Haskins incident the U doesn't want to get anyone who could give them a black eye. I think Leach would be a good coach but I think this selection is too much on the edge for the U.
+1000
I have a feeling all the folks on the Leach bandwagon (or is it the Leach frigate?) will be disappointed come hiring day because our admin won't put a guy that's that rough around the edges as our FB coach.
I'm not a fan of Leach for the U. I don't think the Air Raid will work in the Big Ten and without Texas as home state recruiting I don't think he'll get the athletes he needs for it to work. Plus his defenses have always been a liability. I would personally love to see us hire Venables and bring a defense first mindset to the team. Not sure he would take the job though.
