Mick Cronin withdraws his name from consideration according to Andy Katz

Wild speculation- Coaches usually withdraw their name from consideration when a hire is close to being made and they are not going to get the job. Cronin wanted to make sure he withdrew before the private school coach from his same city, Chris Mack, is named Gophers coach.

This combined with the silence from the Enfield camp - one can hope.

Enfield is reportedly independently wealthy from selling his software company and living in a tax free State. His wife is a beautiful ex Maxxim cover model and they are living in a resort like campus on the gulf coast. Yeah...send me to Minnesota. My wife & I can take up snow mobiling.

This could be Cronin reassuring his fan base that he is going nowhere. Something that never happened here in the last five years or so.

good point.

But wouldn't he come out and say that he wasn't interested in leaving Fort Meyers and FGCU to go to Minnesota. It would only help his position down there.

Enfield applied for the Old Dominion job March 14th so I don't believe he plans on staying in Fort Meyers.

This was my thinking as well. Typically withdrawing from consideration means you know someone else is the lead candidate. Hopefully we will find out who soon!

I posted this a couple of days ago....
If the rumor is true that NT wanted to name the #1 chair for Flip's staff, it has spread through the coaching community like wildfire, agents talk to agents, agents talk to coaches, coaches talk to coaches. You may be right, we may be heading to a D II or a DIII coach that may be willing to except those terms.

Just to be clear, I heard that this was a condition for Flip based on his lack of college coaching experience. I don't believe it will be a condition for any current college coach who may take the position.
