What are people's thoughts on Michigan next year, as they compare to Penn State this year? For the answer, it requires an opinion on a moving target. Next year's Gopher squad will be different than this year's edition that beat this year's version of Penn State. The different Gopher team next year will have a home matchup with a different Michigan team. I'd like to think the Gophers could beat Michigan next year with an improved team and RTB culture.
It is weird though because as a fan, I rarely go into a Penn State game thinking there is no chance to win. For whatever reason, the Gophers have matched up pretty well with Penn State over the years regardless of who is coaching, what the teams are ranked, etc. Meanwhile, we all know the long term struggles with Michigan and how even Gopher teams that have had decent chances going into the games of winning (see 2008, 2015) have still found ways to lose to Michigan.
