Michigan just paid $12 million for their new 5* QB, flips him from LSU

Obscene. This will never get paid out in full.
These aren't contracts; these are provisional "assurances". Yet they continually get reported like it's a contract that was signed between the Detroit Lions and a free agent with legally binding terms and conditions. He may get paid, he may not. The whole situation is messed up.

I agree with the posts saying I'd go after known quantities at QB. Dillon Gabriel, Cam Ward. Rourke, Howard types. Feels way safer. I guess when you have unlimited money it doesn't matter if you swing and miss, you just pay another kid so.
And Brosmer.

Crazy money. That being said - wish we could have given the kid 15 million.

I really dont think the numbers will go down though. I was at the LSU / Bama game and that is a different world than what we got going on. Different galaxy.

So was Dylan raiola. Evaluating hs QBs is nowhere remotely near an exact science. I’d go the Kurtis rourke route every time if given the chance
Raiola and Nebraska are a weird situation because I think he has a close family member on the staff or working for the AD. I take your point though

I don't think so either. And that's so cool, I wish I would have made it to an SEC game at either Bama or LSU before I moved overseas. Someday. You're right, it's a difference universe.

His uncle is the line coach.

His father is in the Nebraska "Ring of Honor".

And even with that history, he first committed to tOSU, then flipped to Georgia before finally signing with Nebraska, and only after Carson Beck announced he was returning.

All that after going to 4 different high schools.

Expect him to transfer...he's a head case.

Rumor has it Portnoy/Barstool has ponied up a chunk of the cash

I don’t even have words for this ludicrous amount of money. This can’t be sustainable, the NCAA has created a monster
IMHO, the NCAA was neutered by law suits, but it was politicians that opened the floodgates of money.

It’ll be pretty funny if he is just kind of ok

College football is maybe stupid. This is a higher number than the cap hit number of multiple nfl starters. Including;
Baker mayfield
Tua
CJ stroud
Sam Darnold
They’ll just buy a new one.

Hmmm...I wonder if he'll start as freshman? :)
Imagine being the coach with all these guys at different positions getting paid silly money.
You wanna keep coaching? You better keep playing the guy who is getting paid the most.
Not doing so is a quicker path to getting fired than losing.

Good for him. Capitalism is great.

Hope he disappoints only because I despise Michigan, but happy for a young man cashing in on his talent and hard work.

Ludicrous amount of money for an unproven freshman, or even a proven starter. The NCAA is now the Hunger Games, with a handful of ultra wealthy programs trying to buy success and outbid each other, and everyone else searching for scraps. The next coaching staff hire will have to be someone who has expertise in conflict resolution because of the resentment the other players will have unless they get their share. I wonder how long it will take for the other quarterbacks already on the roster to decide to transfer. Right away I hope.

Saw the domino effect from this is Wisconsin may be getting Michigan's old qb commit. Wonder what was ponied up for someone to commit to that dumpster fire.
