Michigan fires Moore

Les Miles is rested and ready....

Not a lot of established options left. Probably have to poach a coordinator or get one of the unemployed guys (Kelly, O, Meyer). As shown with PSU, bad year to be looking for a head coach. Doubt they find a surefire upgrade.

I think it's even legally ok with a student.

But with a staff member in his reporting line, even if that staff member is single and in her 40s, can be grounds for termination.
I was thinking an student intern or something but you're right.

I’ll say he is. Not as a joke.
I agree. Their last two coaches were embroiled in scandals, PJ has proven he runs a clean program and his sales ability combined with their NIL likely keeps their recruits and important players in place. He knows the league, knows the recruiting grounds, and wants to run the ball on offense. Michigan can also afford his current buyout and whatever his buyout would be if it doesn't work because they haven't paid Harbaugh or Moore to leave. In a vacuum, I'm skeptical of the fit between a helmet school and PJ, but there are *a lot* of mitigating circumstances here. If they can't tempt the coaches Penn State wanted to (DeBoer, mostly), I think PJ could be a real option.

Gonna be a tough time to hire a good coach now. Wonder if they'll try going one year with the interim and then see what happens.
Marcus Freeman. Being an OSU alum, guessing he would not bite, but that would be a big splash.

There's multiple examples of twitter accounts predicting this was going to happen several days before the announcement so it sounds like the relationship was hardly a secret.

I’ve believed for a while that, barring a return to 2019 levels of success, PJ’s only shot at a helmet school job is a scandal that results in the AD wanting to bring in a “culture guy”. Throw in the limited coaching options this year and his connections to Michigan and it seems plausible. Now, I don’t think it’ll happen because fans and boosters will hate it, but this is as good of a chance as he’ll have any time soon.

He might be able to get a little bit of a raise but not sure the current Michigan program is better than Notre Dame's. Freeman seems to really like it at ND.

I just a saw podcast of SEC guys talk about how LSU routinely has private investigators following coaches looking for future material, and Kiffin would need to watch out. I don't put that past Michigan.

The huge question is...who are they targeting?

Michigan does have a history of spying, but Moore should know that.
