Metrodome vs TCF Bank Stadium what ifs...

I can confirm this as I worked for the ticket office. Most of those years the student season tickets were over 10,000. Many games had student tickets sales between 12-16k.

Tickets were super cheap though, right? How do they compare to today's prices?

What if Memorial Stadium had not been torn down and it was remodeled while the Gophers were playing at the Metrodome.

This probably would have cost quite a bit of money. They added on to Maryland's stadium and had to build an external structure that looks like dorm to add Suites. and to plus up attendance the new upper deck is similar to climbing Everest at like a 65% grade.

The old stadium had little room for concessions and was very similar to Williams Arena. I think this would have been a bad idea.

That being said, they should have kept at least the main entrance arch. It was Memorial Stadium after all!

If I remember correctly, they were $99 and you could buy a guest pass as well. I see someone else said $70, which could have been the case for a few of those years as well.

The old memorial Arch to Memorial stadium is on display in the McNamara alumni center.

If you go even further back, I swear I remember some student tickets for $3 each during the Wacker era.

Tickets were $35/season in 1997-1998.

In 1993- tickets were $25 for the season and if you bought one you got one free. Air Wacker.

This is true, there was tickets that cheap during the Wacker era. Coach Wacker handed me a pair of free tickets to the Syracuse game by Northrup. That was a fun game, but took some fluke turnovers for the Gophers to win. Still a fun game and memory.

I think if TCF had not been built, we may well have become tenants in the Vikings new stadium.

Does this mean the Vikings and Gophers would have had two years at Target Field? (Can a football field even fit?)

There are exactly 0 good reasons to have a stadium not on campus. If I were writing a guide of how to alienate the students and weaken the link between the football team and the school building an off campus stadium would be the first thing on it

Georgia State is buying Turner Field and making it into a stadium is just the start... footballscoop.com/news/turner-fi…

Yes it was built to fit a field if needed.
