They did sweep the Vermont team in Vermont that we split with at home.

Nobody actually believes Merrimack is the best team in the country, but the Gophers faltered just enough the last two weeks to give voters the justification to move Merrimack up.

Doesn't really matter, though. College hockey rankings are like college basketball rankings.
