Meidt steam is legit

So you care more about whether the guy will stay than whether or not he'll be any good?

And we wonder why it's been 42 years...

No, you're assuming I don't care that he'll be good. That's far from the truth.

What is the truth is that neither you or I know whether he'll be good.

There's not a single candidate out there that we can hire right now that we know will be good.

So to reiterate...shut up with the criticism until he shows us what he can do.

I don't understand how anyone can be critical with the potential hire of Meidt.

How about you wait and see how the guy does first...Be critical if you must after we see him in action. As for now, shut up.

You know you're asking to just shut Gopherhole down don't you?

Please, for God's sake, refrain from typing impulsively for just one day. Please.

Otherwise, respect to you.

I completely understand that I'm asking many on here to move mountains with my request to shut up.

Look, I'm critical with many aspects of the program. However, criticizing a particular person or hire before they've even had a chance in the program is crazy.

This type of thread can really be useful in separating the lunatics and trolls from fans that actually care about the program.

B!tch all you want if the guy flames out. However, b!tching at this point is just plain stupid.

I agree.

It's like wiping before you poop; don't make sense!

No, I did not say nor assume that. What you yourself said was that the #1 criteria is whether they will stay. By definition, that means you hold it to be more important than whether or not he'll be good.

And for the record, I would endorse a Meidt hiring, as I have already stated on this board. But that's because I think he has a track record of being good. The fact that he's from here is just a bonus.

I just can't envision a hierarchy of needs where longevity takes precedence over productivity. And that is precisely what you (along with thousands of other provincial Minnesotans) are advocating.

Good is not necessarily the same as productive. A revolving door for coordinators hampers production. Obviously, we want a coordinator to be good. But one who was slightly less good but stays a while might better than one who was better, but is gone after a year.

If my number one criteria for a restaurant is price, it doesn't mean I don't care if the food is any good.

ONCE AGAIN, that is not what I said.

In your hypothetical, you care more about the price than the quality of the food. By definition, you have limited your options to less-expensive items. And that is exactly analogous to what I am saying.

But one who was slightly less good but stays a while might better than one who was better, but is gone after a year.

I'm sorry, I just don't buy that premise. Get the best guy you can. Worry about if he leaves later. Brewster doesn't have the luxury of accepting subpar people in the hopes they'll stay. He has to do the best job he can, right now.

I wholeheartedly agree. Next year could be his last if the team doesn't improve.

Well, it sounds like Horton is the guy now so everyone can relax and perhaps discuss it over a good restaurant meal served at a fair price.
