per her Q&A:

Q: Do you believe, all things being equal (Fleck staying, [Mark] Coyle as AD). Minnesota has the ability to win a Big Ten Championship in the next three years? And a national championship in the next five? If the 2020 season happens, what teams finish top 3 in the West? – @AndyKuehnel
A:
Yes (very feasible seeing the Gophers win the West, then it’s just a matter of having one good game against Ohio State in the championship, and I could see that). No (not sure five years is quite enough time to stack up against some of the blue bloods). The Gophers, Iowa, Wisconsin, in no particular order (I will not be burned by Nebraska again).

Go Gophers!!

Well one year at a time, but we're clearly on the move if we take the steps necessary to be elite.

Having a top QB in Morgan and other studs on the team while we continue to bring in recruits like we are and continue improving our coaching and recruiting. Sky is the limit.. Shoot for the Moon National Champions

If I can survive this pandemic, maybe I get to witness the Gophers secure the Big Ten title, and the National Title.
I joked with my wife the other day that with my luck the Gophers will finally go back to the Rose Bowl this next season but I'll end up dying from Covid-19 first.

I sincerely hope that doesn't happen, but if it was a straight up trade, I know you'd take one for the team. You're a good dude like that.

Nah.

Rather, Fleck will be hired by Michigan/Notre Dame/etc before the game is played.

"Only the good die young". Per my Irish mom. Kept me humble as a youth.

I read this thread earlier in the day and didn't think much of it but as i thought about it some something really struck me about it.

Someone posed a question about the Gophers winning a National Title in 5 years and it really didn't seem like that odd of a question. Thinking back on the recent history of the program when could that question have been asked where it would not have drawn laughter and been dismissed completely?

Had you asked if the Gophers could win a National title at any point during the Claeys, Kill, Brewster, Mason, Wacker, Gutey, and even Holtz years the answer would have probably been a pretty emphatic NO. The hope for those years was to just find a way to compete in the conference, National titles were a pipe dream, way way way off in the future....maybe....

Now, here we sit, entering year 4 of Fleck's tenure and the thought of the Gophers competing for a National Title at some point in the relatively near future doesn't feel like an impossibility.

We have come a really long way in a very short amount of time. And it truly feels like the best is yet to come. Only a world-wide pandemic can dampen some of the excitement.... :)

The question was "has the ability to". Based on that, I think the answer is a definite yes to the big ten question. I concede the national championship answer would be a no...at least mine.

Obviously, I was trying to reply to Plato who did not say that.

We'll call it the Hungan National Title!!!! Finally something not named after a bank. Unless you own a bank.....

Because of Ohio State, and because of OSU plus programs like Alabama and Clemson ..... the correct questions should be:

Can the Gophers make the Big Ten championship game in 3 years, and make the CFP in 5 years?

I would say yes to both. Especially if the CFP ends up expanding to 6 or 8 teams.
