>> A little birdie says new Gophers men’s basketball coach Niko Medved called University of St. Thomas officials, offering to play the Tommies in the first game of their new arena this fall, but St. Thomas instead will be hosting Army. Previous Gophers coach Ben Johnson had declined to play the crosstown Division I team.

Go Gophers!!

If the offer came before St. Thomas had locked in with Army (Lee Anderson's alma mater) as the arena opener, good on Niko. As the days go by it becomes more and more apparent these two schools need to play one another. If not every season, very frequently.

Both programs are in a good spot. Niko should've been hired after Richard was fired, but Joan Gabel made sure that wasn't going to happen. The U has the right guy now.

😂.. Trash 🗑️… the Army home opener was a given the plan has been in place for sometime… Lee Anderson and family gave $75 million to UST.. Lee Anderson played at Army.. Lee Anderson gives Army millions.. in fact the Army head basketball coaching position is named after Lee.. The Lee Anderson Head Basketball Coach… The Army women’s team is also coming to play the same day…

The Gophers knew this..lots of people knew even though it hadn’t been announced… Why didn’t the Gophers ask to play at UST the second, 5th or 7th game of the year? OR have UST come play in the Gophers home opener?? 🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️… IF the Gophers asked to play UST in their home opener the Gophers already knew what the answer was.. sad.. just like The Gophers knew what the answer would be before asking Florida to come here.. No just like UST.. shits hilarious..
