New York, N.Y. (October 1, 2014) - The John Mackey Award has named Maxx Williams of Minnesota as the John Mackey Tight End of the Week. The Big Ten conference sophomore recorded four receptions for 51 yards and a caught a late third quarter touchdown pass to put the Golden Gophers up 27-7. He also helped them rush for 206 yds (4.4 ypc) in a 30-14 win over Michigan. Williams accounted for 31% of the Minnesota pass offense and 14% of their total offense. Honorable mentions for this week's John Mackey Tight End of the Week include Bucky Hodges of Virginia Tech, Bradley Miller of Texas State, Jean Sifrin of UMass and Steven Walker of Colorado State.

Then the award committee abruptly tossed the Tight End of the Week plaque at Maxx and he casually caught it with one hand.

Maxx could win this about half the time. This year. If Leidner is now going to be performing like last week and improve (he is a sophomore QB). Hope he comes out of this rest 100% (both of them).
 


I think Maxx could end up being a 1st round pick and at worst will go in the first 3 rounds of the draft.
