So on a whim I emailed Maturi to ask when we would know more on Trevor's status. He replied back that a press release would be issued Monday.

that timeline sounds in-line with when he originally said he would be making his announcement on trevor's playing status. so, not sure if there is anything here.....or if that was even your intent.

Thanks, bornandraised. We figured it was coming, but it was nice for you to get confirmation on the actual day. Looks like we can all put this on the backburner for the weekend, concentrate on being MSU, and can either be pleased or upset by the official decision on Monday!

Has anyone seen the thread about his Facebook status? I think we should all be guarded with our optimism. There is nothing to cross your fingers about. I'm not sure how you can mis-understand what he was saying there. I'm all for staying positive, but seriously.

At first I was all for Trevor playing under the "innocent until proven guilty" cliche, but I'm not sure what I would do if I were in Maturi's situation. If the trial will be over around the beginning of the Big Ten season, I might keep him out until then. That way you can protect the program (which really is his number one priority) and assuming everything we've heard about this case is true, Trevor can join the team for the most important 70% of the season. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but he'll for sure have to miss the chuck of the schedule when the trial is taking place right? Sitting out before then will not be that big of a deal outside of that one tourny we're in early.

Either way Maturi decide on this he want the story to not be a big deal. If he lets Trevor play he catches heat for all he cares about W's. If he keeps Trevor out then everyone says what happedn to "innocent until proven guilty" Either way he loses.

"The good cop bad cop" may be the best way to handle the situation right now. Maturi can play the bad cop. There will be a good cop to keep the team united. I feel bad for Trevor. But, the reality is that this is a situation whrein he can hardly win, playing or not. We will move on. In the end, I hope, Trevor will make a good use of the another year(?) of playing college ball here and move on to a productive, lucrative pro career.

I doubt VERY much that the trial will be in December. Didn't his lawyer already say the trial would be after the season? It would be nearly impossible for the defense to get the witnesses they need in December. Even if Trevor is out until the case is decided, I hope his lawyer takes the time needed to try this case correctly. Maturi may know about the timing of the trial and that could contribute to the suspension. It looks bad if Trevor's case is continued to after the season and Maturi allows him to play. That said, I still think Maturi should let him play.
