Maturi on KFAN

I think it's funny that BGF cherry picks which post he will respond to. Posts like mine which destroyed his claims through logic and evidence are completely ignored. Clearly, his biases stand no chance against the facts.

Point taken.

He also listens to KFAN after 9:00am. Do rational people even do that anymore?

Ummm, didn't the Holtz lead Gophers take Oklahoma to the wire and alter the future of two programs since Troy Aikeman was benched for IIRC JC Watts? Sometimes players play to the level of their competition. NDSU comes to mind........

Yes he did and I was at the game. We lost 13-7. Holtz couldn't get out of that one and was forced to play it. He made the most of it and did a good job, though. Holtz DID cancel out of playing Texas, BYU and one other powerhouse I can't remember because we weren't quite ready for it at the time. His words were something like, "we don't need to prepare for the air raid by going through a mine field." This was one of the first things he did as a coach because the schedule was loaded with big name teams that we weren't ready for.

Once you get an established program going though, these are good games to schedule because they will give you national exposure and huge recognition if you can pull it off. It's pretty stupid though to schedule a game where you write it in as a loss before you even play it. There are plenty of other teams we could schedule that we would at least have a shot at and still upgrade our schedule. OK, flame away and say how stupid I am.....I know, Brewster is a great coach and he is taking us to the Rose Bowl.....

Well, LittleGopherFan, I guess you had better enjoy what you said (plagairized, btw) in your OP. Same old, same old. You probably enjoy getting beat up. Good job. And you wonder why I challenge you with your negativism? Go Gophers!!

Our non conference schedule next year includes Middle Tenn. St., South Dakota, N. Illinois, and USC. In 2011 we play NDSU, New Mexico St., Miami (OH) and USC. It's not like our non conference schedule is loaded by any means. I don't see anything wrong with play a top-tier team in the non-conference schedule. It would different if we were playing USC, Texas, and North Carolina all in the same year.

It's pretty stupid though to schedule a game where you write it in as a loss before you even play it. Maybe you're writing it off as a loss but I sure am not. There is a good chance we will lose, but who's to say it's a sure thing. I bet almost everyone in the country thought Washington had no chance of beating USC last year and look what happened. There are plenty of other teams we could schedule that we would at least have a shot at and still upgrade our schedule. OK, flame away and say how stupid I am.....I know, Brewster is a great coach and he is taking us to the Rose Bowl.....

Lastly, no one here has said Brewster is a great coach. He does some things well and other things he needs to improve on.

GophersInIowa is right, no one has yet to post that Brewster is a great coach. Oddly enough, a number of people do come her regularly to refute that non-existent posting.

Oh, as for your first point, I certainly hope that no one comes on here to call you a liar.:)

why? why? why? why are you trapped into the thought that Brewster is some type of recruiting wizard!?! how weak is that! his classes have gone down in rankings EVERY season (you said it yourself) and he had NEVER plucked the best player from the state in his tenure. if he was such a creative recruiter who gets such great talent, why does the team toil a notch below mediocraty? Huh? if he signed all these great players, why aren't they making an impact. it's college sports, underclassmen can make an impact!!!

1. He might not have gotten the top player in the state, but he has recruited Minnesota very well, and imo had Sam Maresh been a '07 or '09 graduate, he would have been the top recruit in MN.

2. You don't pay a whole lot of attention to college football do you? Unlike basketball most freshmen(excluding the very very best players like T.Pryor) usually redshirt their first year and don't start until their Rs-Sophomore/Rs-Junior year, that means you'll start seeing Brewster's recruits from the '08 class start this year and next year.

3. This team is below mediocre? The past 2 years they've been to the same bowl game that Glenn Mason went his last year. Had Glenn not blown the halftime lead he would have still been here and nobody thought we were below mediocre when he was coaching, just mediocre, which is what we have been the past 40 years. At least Brewster is trying to change that. The glass isn't always half-empty so stop being so pessimistic about everything that has to do with Gopher Athletics.

man, you really are some kind of internet joke! do you take all "your" posts directly from the mouth of d-bag dan barreiro and put them to computer screen as your own?!

"your" lame anti-brewster rant is literally verbatim what that d-bag barreiro and j-bag ioweee hogeye fan justin gaard said on barreiro's failing show (ratings are taking a hit)......after he hung up with maturi of course.

at least grow a pair bigdumbfan and post your own original thoughts instead of taking others ill-conceived rants as "your own".

People, people...you are missing the most important point of this post. It isn't about Brewster or Maturi or even Mason! It is that the Ghost of Bierman exposing BigGopherTool as a fraud, a fake, an imposter, as someone who tries to get away with taking credit for someone elses thoughts or work and ONLY does he admit it after he is caught with his pants down!! If he were a journalist, he would be fired IMMEDIATELY!! Is there any way we can have the same punishment here and that he has to close down his GopherHole moniker for good?? I am all for debate on Brewster but we do have to have some standard here! Go Away BigGopherTool!

Brew hasn't landed the best in-state player. Obviously you don't follow recruiting. The top two mn players are current commits.

Just a technicality here, but Aikman wasn't benched per se, he broke his leg in the game. Agree with the premise, except NDSU would not be the best example, since they had as much talent or more than we had in the first place.

I stand corrected. I forgot that Aikeman got injured. I do remember that his replacement never relinquished the position.

Yes NDSU is debatable, but so is Brewster vs Kiffin. I'd argue that Brewster has him beat. This could be more interesting then some of us think.
