Matt Limegrover interviewed for HC position at Southern Illinois

If he goes to Arkansas he was never meant to be a Gopher, much less live in Minny. Just the fact he is interviewing, I say good riddance.

I don't even know what this means. He was fired. Why can't he look for the best job/fit for him?

Go Gophers!!

Seems weird to go through all the interview process and then turn it down, unless it came down to the money.

Right, so a guy who was just fired and is looking for gainful employment should not consider an SEC assistant coaching job because the coach of that team is someone he faced a couple of times within the context of a rivalry, which he did not grow up with, and did not have a personal stake in until the last few years.

People turn down jobs all the time. Sometimes it hurts you to interview for a job and turn it down, but not usually.

It could be any number of things. Maybe money. Maybe after being away for 10 years (or however long it's been since his SIU days) he's learned more about what is needed to succeed. He went to see if SIU had it -- or would provide it -- and they didn't. Maybe the AD or president told him they want to retire in a few years. Maybe he got back there and decided it was a dump after seeing the beauty of Minneapolis. :)

When Limegrover left he stated that his intention was to go back to being an O-line coach. I wonder if did the interview as a favor to Coach Kill.

Heard his was interviewing for the Arkansas OL job there ? Any news on this ?

The word is that some of the other candidates are in the professional ranks and can't interview until their season is finished.

EXACTLY! Resources and such would make it too difficult etc. He is in a position where he can be somewhat selective. Probably made 450% more at Minny than he did at NIU.

You nailed it. I'm actually surprised people are surprised he would go through the process only to turn the job down. I've always been told that when you're in a job interview, you're interviewing them as much as they're you.

Don't forget the wife's & kids' input on where they want to live in addition to the money.

The money may make it manageable to opt for a less desirable place.
