Good for Matt. I hope he gets it.

Per FootballScoop:

Southern Illinois (FCS): Among the candidates who have interviewed for the Southern Illinois head coaching job are interim head coach Nick Hill, former Texas offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Shawn Watson (who served as head coach at Southern Illinois from 1994-1996), and former Minnesota assistant head coach / offensive line coach Matt Limegrover. We understand that there is at least one other candidate in the mix as well. Sources tell us to expect a decision soon.

Go Gophers!!

Good luck coach. They would be foolish not to hire you.

I wish him well.

He helped Gophers get back on track, even if we didn't like his offense at times

Kill's coaching tree has dropped a seed. With his history there, it would be pretty bad if he does not get the job. I bet Jerry is chewing off the AD's ear. Hope he gets it.

If he does get it, how many more coaches will we lose?

lime had leidner to work with.....it held back what should have been a decent offense. rose bowl last year with a decent qb

The only way I see it happening is if one of the offensive coaches is hired as an offensive coordinator with Limegrover.

So we would have been in the playoffs last year with a better QB?

How many coaches are willing to take a 100K cut in pay? Head Coaches at FCS make about the same as our experienced position coaches. I think Trevor Olson is done as a Grad Assistant I could see him leaving but that's about it.

Even though I did not like Limegrover as our offensive coordinator, I certainly wish him luck in getting the Saluki HC'ing job. He certainly gave it his all here, I just think that he was not cut out for power 5 conference fb. Coaching is a tough gig...getting fired is a very common part of the job. Finding new work can be challenging, however, even if he does not get this position, he will certainly get a job as some sort of assistant coach somewhere in the college ranks.

I doubt they'd have to worry about their coaches wanting to go to Southern Illinois. This would be a nice landing spot for Limey, I hope he gets it.

His offense didn't light the world on fire in the Big Ten, and some would say it was downright painful to watch for long stretches and appeared to be "amateur hour" at times. That said, their SIU teams did well by the accounts I've seen and he may do well at that level again. Limey represented MN well and seems like a stand-up guy, but seriously, how many would want him as the HC here?

Crap, i totally was thinking of someone else. Completely forgot they were down a level.

Kill will end up down there in an admin capacity. They have a lake home down there

Interesting. Limey apparently turned down the SIU HC job and is looking to be OL Coach somewhere.

I saw that. Arkansas is one school mentioned.

Assuming it is true that he was offered the job and turned it down I wonder why he even interviewed in the first place. I can totally understand a guy not wanting to be a head coach but seems odd to interview for the role if you are really just looking to drop down from a coordinator role to a position coach.

Some of the comments he made after he was fired definitely made it sound like he would be more then happy to drop down to a position coach level. I get the feeling he loves coaching but doesn't like the pressure that comes with being in charge.

Go Gophers!!

If he goes to Arkansas he was never meant to be a Gopher, much less live in Minny. Just the fact he is interviewing, I say good riddance.

Ball States HC opened today as the HC took an assistant job at Maryland.

I wonder what Ragnow will think if Limey gts the job there.
