Maroon & Gold Scrimmage: Saturday October 11

I was there. Willis looks really impressive. Very smooth. Vaihola looked really solid. Worked the boards well. Cade Tyson played well as well. Team got after it on defensive side. When my kids were getting autographs the two personalities on the team or most outgoing seem to be Willis and Vaihola. Was pretty short but Asumas jumper seemed improved. Lots of movement and think we will be pretty solid. See emphasis on movement and defense. Also Durkin 3 pointer looks really solid.

Negatives would have to be for me a lot of missed free throws. Vaihola missed all 3 of his. Also Nehemiah Turner, not only didn't do very well but more importantly his body language and attitude seemed pretty bad. It stuck out a lot while I was watching. Maybe he was just having a bad day but not a great first impression.

It will be interesting to see who will start. Feel we have a solid 8 guys in Asuma, Crocker Johnson, Willis, Durkin, Tyson, Vaihola, and Reynolds and Omot.I would guess Reynolds and Omot off the bench. Not sure on the last one though. Love the depth though. Also Chance Stephens didn't play. Should be a fun year.

Noticed that as well...odd vibes

Hopefully things improved because Turner definitely has B1G center size, we'll need him this season.

Overall I like the first look at the squad. We are undersized but have ball handling and shooting in spades.

Ball movement, cutting, screening will all be a big improvement.

Willis looked great as others have said. Likely will be our best player?

Reynolds didn't do much, but still have high hopes for him.

Tyson and Durkin are players for sure.

Vaihola was a beast under the boards (must've had 5-6 offensive rebounds). Will be tough to keep off the glass.

JCJ is a man out there, has excellent positional size and moves his feet very well.

Asuma could be poised for a big leap. Looked much more assured and confident.

Shinholster has a decent looking shot but is pretty skinny and raw. Redshirt candidate?

Grove flashed a little bit and confidently stroked a 3 above the break.

Omot is still shaking the rust off but looked pretty fluid.

Something was up with Nemo Turner...bad body language, didn't play very much and had a couple of bird brained turnovers.

Stephens didn't play, not sure if it was an injury or what.

Missed a ton of free throws which...yeeks

Probably forgetting something else but it was a fun event with a decent crowd. In Niko we trust.
