"Gophers coach Richard Pitino tried to get psychological with his team before Sunday’s game against Purdue. He told the players not to look at it as a must-win game this early in Big Ten play. He said if they did it was like they weren’t very confident about the rest of the season.
It certainly seemed like Pitino’s players responded well under pressure this time in a 82-79 win against the Boilermakers on Sunday. That was one of several good things I saw in Minnesota’s first Big Ten win of 2013-14. Having a 19-point lead in the second half cut to just a Kendall Stephens’ three-pointer away from overtime was obviously one of the bad things.
Following each Big Ten game this season, I’m trying something new this year by breaking down some of ”The Good” and “The Bad” I noticed offensively, defensively and what that means moving forward."
